Paul Volpe was down to 900 chips earlier today, but he managed to run that back up to around 15,000 or so the last time we checked. On this check-in, though, Volpe and his chip stack have disappeared, and we think it's safe to assume he's busto.
Perry Friedman is on quite a little charge here during these two levels. We joined him in a heads-up pot with Frank Kassela.
Friedman: (x-x) / / (x)
Kassela: (x-x) / / (x)
Kassela was the completer on third street, and he called a raise from Friedman. Friedman got bets in on fourth, sixth, and seventh streets with Kassela check-calling.
Friedman: /
Aces up are good for Friedman, and he's continuing his charge up the leaderboard. That pot takes him back up to about 57,000, and he's now right behind Kassela and above the chip average.
The higher limits are starting to have an impact as there has been a flurry of eliminations in the last few minutes. Unfortunately we didn't catch the hands, but we can confirm that both Allen Cunningham and Marco Traniello have been eliminated from the tournament, the latter being dispatched by 2010 WSOP Player of the Year Frank Kassela.
Eugene Katchalov completed with the and then called a raise from Frank Kassela, who was showing the mediocre . Katchalov then check-called a bet on the turn before both men checked fifth street. Sixth saw Katchalov lead out and Kassela call, action that would be repeated on seventh.
Katchalov: /
Kassella: (x-x) /
Katchalov revealed his pair of aces, and it was good as Kassela sent his hand to the muck.
With Allen Cunningham's recent elimination, none of the following men are alive in this event. With that said, we still thought it was an interesting list that we'd share with you. Keep in mind these numbers are applicable only up to the start of the 2012 WSOP.
