Heads Up!

Level 5 : 300/600, 0 ante

Here's a look at some of the heads-up matches playing out right now:

Todd Witteles vs. Darin Thomas
Dan Makowsky vs. Michael Reed
Blake Cahail vs. Unknown
Maria Ho vs. Jesse Yaginuma
Jim Geary vs. Jim Pechac

Hawrilenko Heads Up

Matt Hawrilenko is heads up against his opponent but has a severe chip disadvantage. We caught up to find the two staring down at a board of {Q-Hearts}{K-Spades}{10-Hearts}{9-Spades}. Hawrilenko's opponent bet only to find a raise waiting from Hawrilenko.

Hawrilenko's opponent called and the {5-Clubs} rolled off on the river. His opponent check-called another bet on the river and both players turned up hands with jacks in them for the straight. With chopping this pot, Hawrilenko is sitting with about 5,300 in chips.

Liu Leads Heads Up

JJ Liu
JJ Liu

We found JJ Liu heads up at her table against her opponent with a flop reading {10-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}. Liu bet out and her opponent raised. Liu quickly called and the {8-Hearts} turned. Liu check-called a bet from her opponent and the river brought the {9-Clubs}.

Liu led out on this street and her opponent reluctantly called. Liu tabled {10-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for a straight and her opponent mucked. Her opponent has about 5,200 to Liu's 25,000.

Makowsky Penalized

Level 5 : 300/600, 0 ante

We heard a commotion brewing over in the Bronze section and walked over to learn that Dan Makowsky had been given a one orbit penalty. And he wasn't happy about it.

Apparently, Makowsky had mucked his cards too aggressively three hands in row. The third time, his cards flew into the dealer box and nearly hit the dealer himself. A floorman was called over and Makowsky was handed a one-orbit penalty.

"I didn't do it this time!" Makowski repeated to the floorman. The penalty comes at a bad time for Makowsky, who is down to around 3,000 chips.

Viktor Blom
Viktor Blom

Viktor Blom has slowly but surely climbed back to even against Mike Leah. Both players have around 15,000 chips here in Level 4, giving them plenty of play during their heads-up match.
