Limit Hold'em

Action folded around the table to eight-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner Phil Ivey in the small blind and he completed the bet. John MacDonald checked and the flop rolled out {8-Clubs}{8-Spades}{6-Spades}.

On the flop, Ivey checked and MacDonald checked behind. The turn was the {5-Diamonds} and Ivey bet. MacDonald made the call. The river was the {J-Spades} and Ivey bet again. MacDonald called all in for 4,000.

Ivey showed the {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} for trip eights and MacDonald showed the {J-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} for two pair. Ivey won the hand and MacDonald was eliminated, which brings the field down to 13 players.

From middle position, Chris Tryba raised. Anton Kunikeyev called from the small blind and Phil Ivey folded from the big blind. The flop came down {7-Spades}{5-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and both players checked.

They also checked the {7-Diamonds} that paired the board on the turn before the dealer placed the {A-Clubs} out on the river. Kunikeyev checked and Tryba fired a bet. Kunikeyev folded and Tryba won the pot.

No-Limit Hold'em

Andre Akkari was all in preflop with the {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for 78,000 against the {K-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} for Erik Cajelais.

Akkari flopped a gutshot straight draw to go with his pair on the {6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} flop, but the {J-Spades} on the turn and {10-Spades} on the river left him second best. He was eliminated in 15th place and took home $10,219 for his effort.

Shannon Shorr Eliminated in 16th Place ($8,056)

No-Limit Hold'em

From under the gun, Joep van den Bijgaart raised to 8,500. Michael Gathy, who won Event 21: $1,000 No-Limit Hold'em, reraised to 20,500. Shannon Shorr was on the button and reraised all in for 113,000 after play folded to him. Van den Bijgaart gave it up, but Gathy made the call.

Gathy turned up the {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} to have a strangle hold on the {K-Spades}{Q-Hearts} of Shorr.

The flop was a dry {9-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{3-Spades} as far as Shorr was concerned. That was followed by the {9-Clubs} on fourth street and the {5-Hearts} on fifth street. Shorr couldn't come from behind and was eliminated in 16th place. Gathy took the bounty, the pot and moved himself into the chip lead.
