Parker Passes

The player on the button raised to 1,500 and found one caller in Brock Parker from the big blind.

The flop came {7-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{7-Spades} and Parker check-called a 1,500 bet from his opponent.

A {K-Diamonds} fell on the turn and Parker checked again, prompting a 6,000 bet from his opponent. Parker mucked the second his opponent's bet crossed the line.

The small hit was almost inconsequential to Parker's stack, as he is still one of (if not) the chip leader with 112,000.

Selbst Feeling Saucy

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante

As we walked past Vanessa Selbst's table, we couldn't help but overhear her talking to one of her tablemates about the iPhone game "Words With Friends."

From what we could gather, Selbst wanted to bet that she could get 150% of her opponent's score for $100 dollars.

"You seem so confident," Selbst's tablemate said.

"I'm just a little buzzed and I want some action," Selbst replied.

It is unclear if the bet came to fruition, but in any case, Selbst is currently sitting on about 17,000.

Nam Out

Nam Le pushed all in for his last 12,000 and was called by a player in middle position. The player in the big blind then pushed all in himself and was called by the middle-position player for a three-way showdown.

Le: {9-Hearts}{9-Diamonds}
Middle position player: {A-Spades}{Q-Hearts}
Big blind player: {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds}

Le's tournament life was in dire straights and the {Q-Clubs}{10-Spades}{5-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} board was of no help as the player in the big blind scooped the pot.

Obrestad Doubles

A player opened to 1,600 from middle position and Annette Obrestad went all in for her last 19,000 from the hijack. Everyone else got out of the way and Oberestad's opponent reluctantly called.

Obrestad: {K-Spades}{J-Clubs}
Opponent: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}

The board ran out {7-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Spades}{A-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}, giving Obrestad a straight on the river and doubling her up to 41,000.

Khan, Solomon Top Day 1; Allisen and Nguyen Close Behind

Level 10 : 400/800, 100 ante
Jarred Solomon - one of the leaders
Jarred Solomon - one of the leaders

After ten levels of play without delay, Day 1 of Event 41: $3,000 No-Limit Hold'em is history. Today's event drew an impressive 1,394 player field, which generated a $3,805,620 prize pool. Best positioned heading into Day 2 is Hafiz Khan, who managed to bag up a firm chip lead of 189,100. Not *too* far behind are Jarred Solomon with 167,500, Darren Elias with 134,300 and Kennii Nguyen, who bagged up 125,000.

After all the dust settled, 324 players survived and will come back tomorrow to play Day 2. Among them include Shannon Shorr (46,500), Martin Staszko (35,500), Layne Flack (58,000), Annette Obrestad (38,800), Andy Frankenberger (33,300) and Brock Parker, who bagged up a respectable 97,500 after being chip leader through part of the day.

Those who fell short include Barry Greenstein, Vanessa Selbst, Randy Lew, David Williams, Jonathan Duhamel, Dwyte Pilgrim, Bertrand Grospellier and defending Main Event Champion Pius Heinz.

Nguyen is poised to make another deep run, which will complement his recent second-place finish in Event 19: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em.

Fellow big-stack Parker is also looking to make another deep run. Parker recently earned a 5th-place finish in Event 25: $1,500 Limit Hold'em Shootout. Parker has already earned two World Series of Poker bracelets (both in 2009) and has live-tournament winnings that exceed $1.1 million.

Play is set to resume tomorrow at 1:00 PM PST in the Amazon Room, where our remaining 324 combatants will play out ten more levels. Be sure to stick with us here at PokerNews to follow all the action and we race our way to a final table.

Until then, goodnight from Las Vegas!
