Heinz Eliminated and Balaguer Stunned

Pius Heinz is out
Pius Heinz is out

The ink is not yet dry on the Pius Heinz v Joe Gualtieri post and the German champion is out.

Larry Duplantis raised to 18,000, Pius Heinz moved all-in for 77,000 and the decision was back on Duplantis. There were a few verbals before Duplantis told Heinz he was here to gamble and turned over {5-Diamonds} {6-Diamonds}. Heinz showed {K-} {Q-} for the slight lead, which would change on a board of {A-} {9-} {8-} {9-} {5-}. Heinz was out and the gambling Duplantis was up to 430,000.

In other news Adria Balaguer and Fernando Brito just played out a sick half a million pot. It all went in on a flop of {Q-Diamonds} {8-Clubs} {Q-Spades} with Balaguer holding {A-Diamonds} {Q-Clubs} and Brito holding {8-Hearts} {8-Spades}. The turn {J-Hearts} and river {K-Clubs} placing the hand in the record books and Balaguer was stunned.

Bobby Moore Eliminated

Bobby Moore moved all in for 166,000 and found himself a caller in Jeremy Quehen. The rest of the table folded and as is the custom both players flipped over their cards.

Moore: {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}
Quehen: {9-Clubs}{9-Spades}

The flop came {7-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs} and Quehen got up to celebrate with his friends. The {A-Hearts} on the turn though brought new life to Moore, who could now steal the pot back with any queen or jack. The {2-Spades} on the river was not the card Moore wanted to see and he was eliminated late here on day 2.

Joe Gualtieri Doubles Through Pius Heinz

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event champion just got unlucky in a showdown that doubled up Joe Gualtieri. It was the {J-Hearts} {J-Diamonds} of Heinz versus the {A-Hearts} {Q-Diamonds} of Gualtieri and it was a turned flush that did the trick on a board of {K-Diamonds} {8-Diamonds} {2-Diamonds} {9-Diamonds} {3-Spades}.

Heinz now has 75,000 and Gualtieri has 95,000.

Nicholas Augustinho Eliminates Kenny Hallaert

Nicholas Augustino just coolered Kenny Hallaert and the brilliant Belgian is out. Augustinho raised to 12,000 in the hijack seat, Hallaert three-bet jammed from the cutoff and Augustino made the call.

Augustino{A-Clubs} {10-Spades}
Hallaert{K-Diamonds} {K-Clubs}

So Hallaert just had to fade to ace and unfortunately he couldn't do it.

Board: {A-Hearts} {6-Hearts} {4-Spades} {8-Spades} {9-Hearts}

Augustino's fans cheered on the rail, Augustino allowed himself a little fist-pump and Hallaert took the lonely walk out of the Amazon Room.

Another Pot For Gagliano

Michael Gagliano has the proverbial bit between his teeth at the moment. He is up to 830,000 courtesy of this hand against Jason Wheeler.

Wheeler opened to 14,000 in mid-position and Gagliano peeled in the cutoff. Wheeler bowed his head and proceeded to fire two barrels into the waiting arms of Gagliano (18,000 flop and 26,000 turn). The {3-Clubs} popped up on fifth street and this time both players decided that a showdown was the best possible solution. Wheeler showed {Q-} {8-} for the airball and Gagliano showed {K-Diamonds} {J-Hearts} for top pair.

Lost Souls

A handful of recent eliminations.

Bonkowski Busted

We don't know exactly how the action went, but we do know Bonkowski managed to get all in and at risk. Bonkowski held {A-}{K-}, while his opponent had {j-}{J-}.

The flop came {9-}{9-}{j-} basically shutting the door on Bonkowski staying alive in this tournament. A {Q-} landed on the turn and Bonkowski was eliminated after the meaningless {10-} landed on the river giving Bonkowski a straight.

Castoire Moving Up Counts

We don't know exactly how the action went, but what we do know is a shorter stacked player moved all in for around 160,000 and Robert Castoire in later position made the call with {A-}{K-}. Castoire was in great position because his opponent possessed {A-}{Q-}.

The board came {A-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} giving Castoire a pair of aces with a king kicker. His opponent was only second best and was eliminated, putting Castoire over the 500,000 chip mark.

Michael Gagliano Eliminates Shankar Pillai

Michael Gagliano is building towers
Michael Gagliano is building towers

Michael Gagliano has just become the latest player to hold the number one spot. He has just eliminated the World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet holder Shankar Pillai. We missed the detail of the raising war but believe Gagliano raised, Pillai three-bet, Gagliano put him all-in and Pillai called.

Gagliano{2-Clubs} {2-Diamonds}
Pillai{A-Spades} {K-Spades}

Board: {Q-Diamonds} {5-Clubs} {3-Spades} {8-Spades} {Q-Clubs}

Gagliano fades most of the deck on the turn and moves up to 780,000 chips.

Selbst Doubles Shorty

The hijack player opened and the cut-off player moved all in for about 75,000. Vanessa Selbst was on the button and she moved all in for 270,000. The blinds folded and action was back to the hijack who took his time before folding {9-}{9-} face up. The cut-off had far few chips than Selbst and would be the one at risk in this all in.

Selbst: {A-Spades}{J-Diamonds}
Cut Off: {Q-Spades}{Q-Clubs}

The board came {7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{A-Clubs} and Selbst was forced to send over a chunk of her stack. Selbst now sits with around 220,000.
