Back-to-Back Pechac

Debbie Pechac
Debbie Pechac

Soon after that hand in which she used pocket jacks to knock out one opponent, another pocket pair served Debbie Pechac well again, helping her knock out another and surge up to challenge Yen Dang for the chip lead.

In this one Pechac and Lisa Serban got all of the latter's chips in the middle following a {K-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Spades} flop. Serban had {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for a set of eights, but unfortunately for her had run into Pechac's {10-Clubs}{10-Spades}. The turn was the {3-Hearts} and river the {5-Hearts}, and Serban is out in 50th place.

Jancevic Jumps Up

Oksana Jancevic
Oksana Jancevic

Lara Boutros opened with a raise to 4,500 from middle position, and it folded around to Oksana Jancevic on the button where the action paused. Boutros sat with her chin on one fist, watching as Jancevic reraised to 12,000. It folded back to Boutros who didn't waste much time announcing she was all in, and Jancevic quickly called.

Jancevic turned over {A-Spades}{A-Hearts}, and Boutros winced before turning over her {K-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}. The board ran out {J-Clubs}{9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{9-Hearts}, and Jancevic scored the double-up.

More for Margets

Leo Margets
Leo Margets

Leo Margets is still here and battling, having just scored a knockout to chip back up around average-stacked status.

Following a Margets raise from the hijack seat, Soffer reraise pushed his last 21,500 and when it folded back around to Margets she called. Margets showed {A-Spades}{J-Clubs} and Soffer {8-Hearts}{8-Spades}. The flop came {K-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{A-Clubs}, pairing Margets, and after the {6-Hearts} turn and {9-Diamonds} river, Soffer was eliminated.

Schoenberg Survives

Erica Schoenberg
Erica Schoenberg

Erica Schoenberg has been battling with a below average stack for a while, though just managed a needed double up to afford her a little bit of breathing room.

All in for 20,500 with {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades} against an opponent's {A-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, the board came {8-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{7-Clubs} and Schoenberg survives.

Liu Loses Last of Stack

JJ Liu
JJ Liu

Down to 28,200, J.J. Liu open-pushed from the cutoff and was called by Yen Dang in the small blind. Lesley Amos then reraised all in from the big blind for 31,400, and Dang called the few extra chips.

All three players held an ace — {A-Clubs}{6-Clubs} for Liu, {A-Spades}{Q-Clubs} for Dang, and {A-Hearts}{K-Diamonds} for Amos. The community cards came {10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}, meaning Amos had made a flush and scooped the pot, pushing her stack up to 90,000. Meanwhile, Liu has been eliminated here as we near the end of Level 14.

Downturn for Tournier; Santy, Schoenberg Double Up

Laurie Tournier has enjoyed a strong Level 14, gathering chips at a rapid pace and pushing out over 200,000 and into the chip lead. She just experienced a setback, however, in a couple of successive hands.

We caught up with the first one versus Lisa Santy on the turn with the board showing {J-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}, a decent amount of chips already in the middle and 5,300 sitting in front of Tournier on the button. Santy then put out 15,300, Tournier raised all in, and Santy called for 62,200 total.

Tournier had {K-Hearts}{9-Spades} — she'd turned a straight, plus picked up a king-high flush draw. But Santy had {8-Hearts}{6-Hearts} for the made flush. The river was the {J-Spades}, and now Santy and Tournier are sitting with roughly even stacks.

Shortly after that hand, it was Erica Schoenberg's turn to double through Tournier, her {A-Diamonds}{K-Spades} outdrawing Tournier's {9-Spades}{9-Diamonds} when the board came {5-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{3-Spades}{J-Spades}.

Baumann Battling

Gaelle Baumann
Gaelle Baumann

The last level was a struggle for start-of-day leader Gaelle Baumann as she saw her stack slide back down below average. Just now she grabbed a few back in a small pot versus Stacey Lynn Nutini.

After losing the previous hand, Baumann opened for 5,000 from middle position and got one caller in Nutini from the small blind. The flop came {6-Spades}{6-Clubs}{7-Hearts}, and when Nutini checked Baumann fired 7,000, and Nutini let it go.
