Just Queens for Wattel

Stud Hi

Richard Ashby{x-}{x-} / {5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{j-Spades}{7-Clubs} / {x-}
Mike Wattel{x-}{x-} / {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{a-Spades} / {x-}

We caught the action on fifth street, where Wattel led out and Ashby called. Ashby called another bet on sixth, and Wattel led out blind on seventh. Ashby tank-called.

"Just a pair of queens," Wattel announced, tabling {q-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts}.

Ashby rechecked his hand, then sent it into the muck.

"I was just steaming," Ashby announced.

Smith Sent Home

Stud Hi

Me missed the action, but Mike Gorodinsky eliminated Matthew Smith with a pair of queens. Smith's hand was in the muck, and he was grabbing his back when we reached the table, but we caught {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs} in front of Gorodinsky.

"I Hate This"

NL 2-7 Single Draw

Vanessa Selbst opened to 4,000 from middle position, Christopher George three-bet to 9,000, and the action folded back to Selbst, who called. Selbst drew one, George stood pat, and Selbst moved all in for effectively 20,000.

"Vanessa Selbst!" George blurted. "God dammit. I hate this. I guarantee that you were going to do this no matter what."

After a little longer, George called. Selbst fanned {8-}{7-}{5-}{3-}{4-} for an eighty-seven low, and George showed {10-}{9-}{6-}{4-}{2-} before mucking.

Chip Counts Part 3

Nassif Cracks Mackey's Aces

Gabriel Nassif doubles.
Gabriel Nassif doubles.

No-Limit Hold'em

Gabriel Nassif opened to 2,400 from early position, James Mackey three-bet to 7,300, and the action folded to Nassif who dipped into the tank. Nassif reached into his stack and grabbed a handful of yellow T1,000 chips, and four-bet to 13,600.

It was Mackey's turn to tank, and after a moment or two he announced, "All in."

Nassif called all in for 46,200, and the hands were opened.

Mackey: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}
Nassif: {6-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}

The board ran out {2-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.........{6-Hearts}!

Mackey sighed, then muttered, "God dammit."

Nassif was shipped the pot, doubling to over 90,000 chips.

Ashby Chips Up

Limit 2-7 Single Draw

Richard Ashby limped in from the small blind, Mike Gorodinksy checked, and Ashby stood pat. Gorodinsky laughed, then drew four. Ashby immediately bet, and Gorodinsky called.

Ashby stood pat, Gorodinsky drew two, and Ashby bet. Gorodinsky called.

Ashby patted a third time, Gorodinsky drew one, and both players checked. Ashby fanned [9x 6x 5x 4x 3], and dragged in the pot.

The Comeback Duo

2-7 Triple Draw

Dan O'Brien and Chris Bjorin were among the shortest stacks when the money was reached, but they are far from out!

"Are you getting this?" O'Brien just said as we were writing down how he doubled up. "This is the comeback story," O'Brien added as he took a sip of his first beer of the day.

O'Brien was down to just 3,900 chips on the bubble, and right now he's back up to 11,600. Chris Bjorin was just all in for his final 5,000 chips again Brett Richey, and the hand played out like this.

Richey took two cards on the first draw while Bjorin needed one. On the second draw Richey took two and Bjorin stood pat. Bjorin showed a ten-low and Richey was drawing to a better low. He paired up on the last draw and Bjorin doubled up.

On the next hand Bjorin raised to 5,000 from the cutoff and the big blind defended. Both players took two cards and both players checked. On the second draw the big blind took one card and Bjorin needed two again. The big blind lead out for 5,000 and Bjorin hesitated before making the call with just a couple of chips behind.

On the final draw both players stood pat en Bjorin called all in. The big blind tabled {8-}{7-}{6-}{4-}{3-} and Bjorin said that was no good as he tabled {8-}{7-}{4-}{3-}{2-}. Bjorin and O'Brien are still in the hunt, but a few more double ups would help them out!
