Talal Shakerchi raised to 57,000 from middle position and Noah Schwartz called from one seat over. Gus Hansen then reraised to 242,000 from the cutoff seat, and when it folded back around both Shakerchi and Schwartz called the reraise.
The flop came monotone — — and Shakerchi and Schwartz both quickly checked. Hansen took a moment to recheck his cards, and he checked as well.
The turn brought another club — the — and this time Shakerchi bet 365,000. Schwartz called, and after muttering a little Hansen folded.
Both of the remaining players then checked the river. Shakerchi showed for a flush, and now Schwartz was the one muttering as he mucked.
Bill Perkins and Frederic Banjout took a flop of . They both checked.
The turn was the , and Perkins led out for 175,000. Banjout called. The river was the , and Perkins led again - this time for 200,000. Banjout made the call, and turned over .
Perkins mucked, and saw his stack dip to 1.63 million.
Robert Bright raised to 60,000 from under the gun and Daniel Negreanu flat-called from middle position. Action folded to the button where Paul Phua sat just one hand after he doubled up Negreanu. Phua moved all in for 222,000 and play folded to Bright. He called and Negreanu also called.
"Going to let you get right back in it," said Negreanu as he tossed the chips in.
The flop came down with Bright and Negreanu checking to see the pair the board on the turn. Both checked again and the river was the . Bright fired 425,000 and Negreanu folded the face up.
Bright held the , but lost to Phua's . Phua held a full house and tripled back up.
Daniel Negreanu opened for 52,000 from middle position and got no less than five callers. "Wow!" said Negreanu, as Phil Hellmuth in the big blind became the fifth opponent to see the flop with him.
That flop came , and when it checked to Negreanu he bet 162,000. Chamath Palihapitiya then raised from a couple of seats over, and when it folded back to Hellmuth he asked how much the raise was for.
A count revealed Palihapitiya had only put 305,000 forward — not enough for a minimum-raise — and so he added chips to make it 325,000. Hellmuth called, and Negreanu folded.
Hellmuth and Palihapitiya both checked quickly when the turn brought the and river the . "Ace-nine," said Palihapitiya, showing . "You got lucky," said Hellmuth, turning over for busted straight and flush draws. "I had you beat," he added, referring to their relative chances after the flop.
The pair continued the banter a little, with Palihapitiya noting he'd "misclicked" when he raised, not seeing Negreanu's bet clearly. When Hellmuth continued his dissertation on why he is the better of the two players, Palihapitiya had a quick response.
"I'll see you at the final table," he retorted with a smirk. "Where I will mock you!"
The table chuckled, and Palihapitiya got up to walk over to the next table where he put a couple of hands on Phil Ivey's shoulders. Ben Lamb stood up. "You must be winning if you're walking," he said to Palihapitiya, who proceeded to relate the previous hand to Lamb while still massaging Ivey.
When we reached Table 401, the board read , and there was about 700,000 in the pot. Brandon Steven checked to Frederic Banjout, who tossed out what looked like 230,000. Steven quickly called.
Banjout rapped the table, and turned over for ace-high. Steven tabled for a pair of kings, and won the pot.
Things have been fairly quiet over at the feature table. While other tables are playing host to all-in situations, we've yet to have even an all-in shove, let alone an all in and a call. Instead, the hands here have been a little more subdued.
For example, in a recent hand Phil Ruffin limped from the cutoff and then called a raise from Guy Laliberté, who made it 124,000 to got from the button. When the flop came down , Ruffin simply check-folded to a 140,000 bet.
From early position, Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi raised to 50,000. Action folded over to Daniel Negreanu on the button and he reraised to 156,000. Mizrachi called when play got back to him and the flop came down .
On the flop, Mizrachi checked and Negreanu bet 125,000. Mizrachi called. The turn was the and Mizrachi led out for 125,000. Negreanu folded in disgust and dropped back to 572,000. Mizrachi moved over two million.
On the next hand, Negreanu opened with a raise to 52,000 from the cutoff seat and Rick Salomon called on the button. Chamath Palihapitiya called from the small blind and Paul Phua called fromt he big blind.
With four players in, the flop came down paired . Action checked to Negreanu and he bet 82,000. Salomon and Palihapitiya folded before Phua made he call.
The turn was the and both players checked. They also checked the on the river.
Phua tabled the and Negreanu mucked his hand, once again unable to produce a winner. Negreanu dropped back under 500,000 in chips.
Talal Shakerchi raised to 57,000 from early position and got one caller in Gus Hansen in the cutoff. Both players checked the flop and turn. The river, however, evoked some action, as Hansen pushed out a bet of 276,000 following Shakerchi's check.
Shakerchi thought a moment and called, and when Hansen showed for jacks and queens, Shakerchi mucked.
Roland De Wolfe raised from under the gun to 56,000. Tom Dwan reraised to 160,000 from middle position and Mikhail Smirnov flat-called in the cutoff seat and action slid over to Phil Galfond in the big blind. He moved all in and everyone folded, allowing him to take the pot and move to over 2.4 million.
