Set Over Set; Einhorn Crushes Marchese

David Einhorn
David Einhorn

David Einhorn doubled up Cary Katz twice, but he probably forgot about this right away as he just doubled through Tom Marchese.

The board read {8-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{2-Spades}{3-Hearts} when Einhorn checked to Marchese who bet 1.2 million. Einhorn moved all in for 3.235 and Marchese made the call.

Marchese turned over {8-Hearts}{8-Clubs}, but he was almost drawing dead as Einhorn had {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} for a higher set. The river was the {3-Clubs} and Marchese took a big hit.

Rast Annoying Hellmuth with His Play

Brian Rast raised from under the gun plus one to 300,000 and Phil Hellmuth called on the button to take a flop of {9-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{7-Hearts}. Rast bet 465,000 and Hellmuth called.

The turn was the {Q-Spades} and Rast stayed on the gas with a bet of 825,000. Hellmuth called. The river was the {K-Hearts} and Rast fired 1.61 million.

"Wow! It's just really been your day against me, buddy," cried Hellmuth before folding his hand.

A few moments passed while Hellmuth stewed a bit. He then said, "Brian, if I had your chips I would finish first, second or third. You may not even make the final table!"

After a few seconds, Hellmuth added, "Well, you probably will actually, but you can bluff off your chips to me first!"
