De Wolfe Shoves Button and Doubles

Roland de Wolfe
Roland de Wolfe

Action folded to Roland De Wolfe on the button on Table 446. He raised all in for 1.22 million. Big stack Brian Rast made the call from the big blind with the {A-Hearts}{5-Clubs}. De Wolfe was at risk with the {K-Clubs}{9-Spades}.

The flop came down {K-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades} and both players added a pair, but Rast fell behind. The turn was the {Q-Spades} and now De Wolfe was looking to dodge an ace or a five on the river to double up.

The river completed the board with the {10-Diamonds} and Rast sent over the chips. De Wolfe doubled and moved back to just over 2.4 million in his stack.

Voulgaris Pisses Steven Off

Haralabos Voulgaris just won a chunk of chips off Brandon Steven, but not without controverse. The action started on Steven, who raised under the gun to 275,000 and Voulgaris three-bet to 700,000 from late position. Steven called.

The flop came down {Q-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Clubs} and Steven check-called a 600,000-chip bet.

The turn was the {a-Spades}, and it got very interesting after Steven had checked. Voulgaris moved all in for 2,735,000 after having counted his chips very slowly, and Steven went into the tank.

After around 75 seconds Voulgaris called the clock on his opponent. Steven was far from happy and told the floor he hardly had time to make up his mind in this big pot. The floor decided he would get extra time.

Another minute went by and Voulgaris called the clock again!

Steven was pissed off and said, "We are playing for millions of dollars here, why the rush?" as he folded his cards with ten seconds left on the clock. Voulgaris took down the pot and is closing in on the average stack.

Trickett Knocks Out Salomon

Rick Salomon
Rick Salomon

Rick Salomon was in the small blind when he just decided to move all in for his final 1,785,000 chips. Sam Trickett was the only player left to beat in the big blind, and he made the call.

Salomon showed {9-Hearts}{9-Clubs} and was ahead against Trickett's {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}.

The board ran out {A-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{3-Spades}, and Salomon got eliminated.

Mercier Eliminated in Massive Clash with Esfandiari

Jason Mercier
Jason Mercier

The entire tournament floor has been silenced with the elimination of Jason Mercier. He and Antonio Esfandiari began the hand both over 10 million in chips and in the top five. At the end of the carnage, Mercier was left slinging his bag over his shoulder and quickly heading out the door. No one in the room had words for how big of a clash this really was.

After the first goup of players folded to Esfandiari, he raised on the button to 250,000. Mercier was in the small blind and put in a three-bet to 680,000. After Cary Katz got out of the way from the big blind, action fell back on Esfandiari.

Esfandiari took some time to himself and then four-bet to a nice, big 1.6 million. Mercier didn't flinch, but instead studied intently. He then fired back with a bigger bullet, five-betting to 2.89 million as if to say, "Your move, Antonio."

The man widely known as "The Magician" reached into his hat and pulled out 4.489 million rabbits for the six-bet. Mercier began the hand with a bit over 10 million in his stack and ripped it all into the middle. Esfandiari snap-called to create a ridiculously huge pot worth approximately 22 million in chips. Mercier was the player at risk, but Esfandiari would be extremely crushed if he were to lose this confrontation.

Esfandiari tabled the {A-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} and Mercier turned over the {K-Spades}{K-Hearts} with a dejected look on his face. After the {J-Clubs}{7-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop, the look on Mercier's face only fell more empty as Esfandiari stayed in front.

Mercier was looking for a king, but the turn card was the {6-Spades} and the room became dead silent waiting for the river. The only noise heard in the room was the slap of the final card off the deck — the {6-Clubs} — and Mercier extended his hand to Esfandiari before exiting to the rail.

With that pot, Esfandiari moved to into the chip lead, overtaking his good friend Brian Rast. He's currently the only player over 20 million.

Hellmuth Takes Some Back From Rast

After having lost a big pot earlier to Brian Rast, Phil Hellmuth just won some back.

Rast opened to 300,000 pre flop and Hellmuth called from the button.

The flop came down {5-Spades}{2-Clubs}{5-Hearts} and Rast bet 455,000. Hellmuth made the call and the turn was the {A-Diamonds}. Rast fired out 710,000 and Hellmuth called once more.

The river was the {10-Spades} and both players checked.

"Ten," Rast announced after which Hellmuth turned over {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}. He took down the pot and is up to eight-million chips.

Triple Up For Katz

Cary Katz
Cary Katz

Cary Katz was down to just 450,000 chips, and moved all in from the hijack. David Einhorn called in the cutoff and Sam Trickett called from the big blind.

The flop came down {Q-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} and Einhorn bet 1,000,000. Trickett folded his cards and heads up we went to showdown.

David Einhorn{A-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}

The turn was the {J-Clubs}, giving Katz a gutshot, and on the river he completed it when the {10-Clubs} popped up. Katz tripled up but he's still one of the tournament short stack.
