Gus Loses a Few Chips

Over on Gus Hansen's table, him and one opponent had played out a hand with a {5-Spades}{q-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} board showing, with PokerNews arriving at the table on the river. At this point there was already over 9,000 in the pot and Chris Brown was betting 5,875. Hansen looked pained as he went into the tank. He was muttering under his breath and we could catch was, "Can't have that, he he cant have that." Eventually he seemed to talk himself into it, flicking out a call.

When Brown tabled {k-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}, the straight was enough to send Hansen's cards into the muck and rake in the pot.

Cooper Crippled

We happened upon Michael "The Great MJ" Cooper's table and saw he was sitting with just 4,700. He saw us looking and informed us it was the result of an aces-versus-kings situation, where he held the kings and lost a 60,000 pot.

Morrison Wins With a Pair of Eights

With around 9,000 in the pot and a board reading {8-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{J-Hearts}, a player in middle position bet 2,525 and Kirk Morrison made the call from the cutoff. Both players ended up checking the {6-Hearts} river, and the middle-position player simply said, "I have nothing."

Morrison then rolled over {Q-Hearts}{8-Spades} for a pair of eights and the win.

...And Loses Some Immediately After

Soon after winning his last large pot, Trickett was involved in a hand where the board read {Q-Spades}{j-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{5-Hearts}. Trickett was in the small blind and heads up against the big blind. He bet 4,300 into a pot of about 5,000 and the player in the big blind called.

The river was the {4-Diamonds} and Trickett led once again. This time his opponent was facing a bet of 9,600. Trickett's opponent responded by moving all in for about 19,000 total. Trickett let out a laugh at the bet and threw his hand to the muck.

Trickett Takes One Down

We caught up with the action just as another player was getting all in preflop against Sam Trickett for about his last 10,000.

Trickett: {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}
Opponent: {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}

Trickett had a massive advantage going to the flop and the {3-Spades}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} board sealed the deal for his opponent as he was eliminated.

Trickett is up to 44,000.

Savage Picks One Up on Onnit Player Weiss

We don't know exactly how the action went before the flop, but we do know that Matt Savage managed to get heads up against Michael Weiss. The flop read {3-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts} and Michael Weiss bet out 2,000 from the small blind. Savage wanted more and raised it to 4,000. Weiss made the call and it was off to the turn.

The {7-Hearts} on the turn saw Weiss simply check and Savage bet out 6,000. Weiss again made the call. The dealer then plopped the {j-Hearts} on the river and Weiss knuckled, prompting a bet of 9,000 from Savage. Weiss again made the call.

Savage flipped over {A-Diamonds}{k-Hearts} for a king high flush and Weiss dropped his cards in the muck. This hand almost boosts Savage to starting stack.

Weiss is competing in the Onnit Last Sticker Standing Contest, and despite this recent hit Weiss has plenty of time to build it back up.

Some Counts From the Pavilion

Baumstein Set Up

Scott Baumstein and an opponent were heads up with the board reading {7-Spades}{a-Clubs}{q-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. Baumstein's opponent led out for 1,050 (into a pot of around 1,675), and Baumstein called.

The river was the {10-Hearts}, and Baumstein's opponent led again - this time for 1,250. Baumstein shrugged, then called, and his opponent tabled {q-Diamonds}{q-Spades} for a set of queens.

Baumstein slipped to 11,300. Here are some more counts from the Blue Section of the Amazon Room.
