Orange Happenings

A walk through of the Orange Section gathered brought some updated chip counts and a handful of interesting hands around the area.

Scott Clements has had a quiet day so far, but recently we saw him getting involved in a hand. The flop read {2-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds} and the first player to act placed a bet of 1,500. The next player raised, and Clements who was last to act three-bet. The initial raiser folded and next player moved put Clements all in for around 7,000 more. Clements quickly made the call and cards were turned over.

Clements: {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Opponent: {9-}{9-}

Clements had plenty of outs, but he was still behind and only had two cards to get there. The {J-Hearts} on the turn put the advantage in Clements favor and the {k-Hearts} on the river secured the hand. Clements is now right around starting stack and is primed to make his comeback.

Chip Counts from the Brasilia Silver Section

Could This Be The Summer of George?

When strolling by Seinfeld star Jason Alexander's table, we looked down to see an early position player raise to 600. The player in the cutoff called and Alexander called from the big blind.

The flop came down {3-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and Alexander called. The original raiser continued for 1,200 and the cutoff folded his hand. Alexander called and the turn was the {8-Spades}.

After the turn fell Alexander peeked at his cards and then his opponent's stack to see that his opponent only had 3,125 behind. Alexander bet enough to put him all in and his opponent looked noticeably upset. Alexander's opponent showed {A-Hearts}{J-Spades} to the table and threw his cards away.

If you missed it earlier be sure to check out when our own PokerNews hostess Kristy Arnett caught up with Jason Alexander to discuss his new look.

Brian Hawkins opened to 700 on the button, Antonio Esfandiari three-bet to 1,800 from the big blind, and Hawkins called. The flop was {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, and Esfandiari led out for 2,400. Hawkins called.

The turn was the {2-Hearts}, and Esfandiari led for 5,200. Hawkins opted to fold, and Esfandiari raked in the pot.

Ivey Sliding

On the {A-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}{2-Hearts} board, Phil Ivey was faced with a bet of 3,000 from his opponent. Ivey tanked for a bit before eventually making the call. His opponent showed the {8-Spades}{8-Diamonds} and Ivey mucked his hand, dropping back to just about 12,000 in chips.

Cheong Makes the Double

When we arrived at Joseph Cheong's table, he was involved in a hand with two opponents and it was already on the turn of a {2-Spades}{10-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{3-Spades} board. Cheong was on the button and at this point, the first player to act checked. The next player, from the hijack, also checked and it was on to Cheong who bet 1,775. The next player folded his hand and the hijack moved all in, with Cheong having the player covered by a small amount. Cheong splashed out a call and the two players turned their hands over.

Cheong: {a-Spades}{j-Diamonds}
Hijack: {q-Spades}{q-Diamonds}

The river bricked off with an {8-Clubs} and Cheong picked up that pot which saw him almost double up.

Wade Whiffs

A player in middle position opened to 600 and Tristan Wade three-bet him to 1,400 from the cutoff. Everyone else folded back around to the original raiser, who made the call.

The flop came {K-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{3-Spades} and Wade's opponent check-called a 1,525 bet from Wade. Both players then proceeded to check down the {9-Clubs} turn and {Q-Hearts} river. Wade's opponent flipped over {5-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds} for a pair of fives and it was good, as Wade mucked without showing.

Wade is sitting on 34,500 after that one.

Allen Shows Once

Eric Wasserson, who recently moved to the Purple Section of the Amazon Room, raised in late position, and Jeremy Allen defended from the blinds. Allen checked before the flop fell {k-Spades}{6-Clubs}{a-Spades}, and Wasserson checked behind.

The {7-Diamonds} turned, and Allen immediately fired 1,200. Wasserson called.

Before the {j-Hearts} hit the felt on the river, Allen announced, "thirty-one." He then tossed out three yellow T1,000 chips and a single black T100 chip, and Wasserson went into the tank. He eventually folded, and Allen stood up.

"I'll show ya once," he announced, tabling {8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}.

The dealer quickly mucked his hand, and Wasserson had to ask a tablemate what it was. Allen has dipped a little since dinner break, but he's still sitting pretty with about 500 big blinds.
