Trips for Thompson

William Thompson just won a decent pot off of David Williams with trip nines to get some of his stack back.

Williams: (x)(x) / {A-Hearts}{8-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Spades} / (x)
Thompson: (x)(x) / {9-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} / (x)

On third street, Thompson completed and Williams raised when it got to him. Thompson called and then called a bet from Williams on fourth street. On fifth, Thompson took the lead by showing a pair of nines on board and bet. Williams called. On sixth, Thompson bet again and Williams called. Then the same thing happened on seventh, but Thompson had bet in the dark.

After Williams called, Thompson showed the {A-Clubs}{9-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} for trip nines. Williams mucked his hand and Thompson won the pot.

Su Battles with Bloch

Stephen Su just played a pot against Andy Bloch that knocked him back down below 100,000 in chips while Bloch climbed up to 70,000.

Su: (x)(x) / {9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Spades} / (x)
Bloch: (x)(x) / {5-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{6-Hearts} / (x)

Picking up the action on fourth street, Su check-called a bet from Bloch. He also check-called a bet from Bloch on fifth street before Bloch took the lead on sixth by showing a pair of sixes. Bloch bet sixth and Su called. On seventh street, both players checked.

"Two pair is good," said Su before watching Bloch table the {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} from the hole. Su mucked and Bloch won the pot.

Su has a few WSOP cashes on his record and they are all from mixed games. His best result is a second-place finish from last year in the $2,500 Razz event for $130,075. In 2010, Su took fifth in the $2,500 World Championship 8-Game event for over $54,000.

Cobb Gone

We just lost four-time World Series of Poker gold bracelet winner Artie Cobb. Cobb won his four bracelets in 1983, 1987, 1991 and 1998. All of his bracelets are in Seven Card Stud games and this is another cash for his record.

Troy Falls

Maxwell Troy was just eliminated at the hands of Nicholas Verkaik. Troy was short and all in on third street with the {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. He was up against the {A-Clubs}{A-Spades}{5-Hearts} for Verkaik.

Troy's board ran out {2-Spades}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{x-} and Verkaik's ran out {K-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{9-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. Verkaik held the winner with two pair and Troy was eliminated.

Big Pot for Bloch Against Grizzle

Sam Grizzle (Day 1)
Sam Grizzle (Day 1)

Sam Grizzle, David Singer and Andy Bloch just played a big one. In the end, Singer wound up getting out of the way on fifth street and Bloch doubled up through Grizzle.

Grizzle: (x)(x) / {7-Spades}{K-Clubs}{10-Spades}{8-Diamonds} / (x)
Singer: (x)(x) / {Q-Spades}{10-Diamonds}{A-Hearts} - fold
Bloch: (x)(x) / {4-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{2-Hearts}{6-Spades} / (x)

On fifth street, Singer checked and Bloch bet. Grizzle raised and Singer folded his hand. Bloch made the call.

On sixth street, Bloch led out, Grizzle raised and then Bloch reraised all in. Grizzle made the call and showed the {K-Spades}{K-Diamonds} for trip kings. Bloch held the {4-Hearts}{4-Clubs} in the hole for fours full of sixes.

Bloch pulled he {8-Spades} on seventh, which actually helped to take away outs for Grizzle. Grizzle pulled the {4-Spades} and that kept Bloch in front. Grizzle's hand was mucked and Bloch was shipped the pot.
