Break It Up

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

The remaining players have been sent on a 20-minute break. In other news, the tournament staff have just colored off the 1,000-denomination chips.

Medici Gets It In, Again

A short while ago we told everyone how Giorgio Medici shoved for three times the pot on the flop. Well, he has just done the same thing and taken a whole bunch of Brian Rast's chips.

The hand began with Medici opening the pot to 55,000 from the hi-jcak seat. Rast made the call on his direct left and the blinds got out of the way.

Flop: {q-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}

As soon as the dealer had finished spreading the three cards on the flop, Medici announced "all in." Rast almost immediately called and the two players turned their hands over.

Medici: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Rast: {a-Clubs}{4-Clubs}

It was top pair for Medici and a flush draw for Rast. The turn and river bricked out and Rast would send around 650,000 of his chips to Medici.

Medici Saved By Musumeci's Fold

Amanda Musumeci opened to 52,000 in late position, Giorgio Medici three-bet jammed for 430,000 behind her, and Brian Rast cold-called from the blinds. Musumeci unhappily mucked, and the hands were opened.

Medici{a-Hearts}{j-Spades}
Rast{a-Spades}{10-Diamonds}

The board ran out {k-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{3-Clubs}, and Medici doubled.

"I had you both," Musumeci told them.

"You would've called?" Rast asked.

"Yeah," Musumeci replied. "Small pair."

Musumeci Jumps to Second in Chips

With the board reading {K-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{2-Spades}{2-Clubs}, Amanda Musumeci pushed out 164,000 and Giorgio Medici casually threw out a call. The river brought the {Q-Spades} and Musumeci carefully counted out 327,000 and moved the stack into the middle.

Medici once again looked quite casual as he quickly counted out his chips and and threw in a call. Musumeci tabled {K-Diamonds}{J-Spades} for a flopped two pair.

Medici flashed the {K-Spades} to Musumeci and she slyly replied merely with an "I know". Musumeci is now the second biggest stack in the room.

Razavi Doubles Up Le

Ashkan Razavi raised to 48,000 only to find Dien Le three-bet to 107,000. Razavi called and the two saw a flop of {J-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Razavi checked to Le who fired out 176,000. Razavi announced all in and Dien snap called with {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}.

The turn and river did not help Razavi and Le was able to score a double up.

Olisar Wins Massive Hand, Takes Chip Lead

Ryan Olisar wins a massive hand.
Ryan Olisar wins a massive hand.

Giorgio Medici opened to 58,000 from middle position, Ryan Olisar three-bet to 160,000 on the button, and Medici quickly called. The dealer fanned {10-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, and Medici instantly moved all in for effectively 1.113 million. Olisar snapped it off, and the two tabled their cards.

Medici: {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts}
Olisar: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}

The {k-Diamonds} on the turn sealed the deal, and the {4-Hearts} on the river completed the board. It took a minute or so to verify the counts, and after the hand they looked like this:

Floor Ruling

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Stephen Reynolds is currently a little upset at a decision the floor has made, but according to the rules, it seems like the correct ruling was come to.

This is what happened. Aviraham Lovton opened the pot to 50,000. Reynolds, in the cut-off seat, wasn't aware the pot had already been opened and said, "I raise to 50,000." The table then filled him that the pot had already been opened to 50,000. This is when the floor was called. As Reynolds had verbalized the words "I raise," he was obliged to put in a min-raise to 76,000. He wasn't happy with this call and seemed uncomfortable while the rest of the hand played out.

The two players checked as the dealer turned over a {8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{k-Hearts}{9-Spades}{8-Hearts} board. However on the river Lovton bet 40,000 and then Reynolds folded. As Reynolds sent his cards into the muck, Lovton said, "phew!"

Preflop Pushing

Level 24 : 12,000/24,000, 4,000 ante

Ryan Olisar opened to 120,000 from under the gun. Amanda Musumeci thought for about 30 seconds before mucking her hand. It folded to Brian Rast in the big blind who counted out a three-bet to 255,000. Olisar quickly announced that he was all in and Rast threw his hand away.
