Leah Takes Them Down

Level 5 : 100/200, 0 ante

We witnessed a pot with Mike Leah, who seems to be accumulating chips as fast as he is final tables. Leah opened the betting for 400 in early position, and was raised around 1700 (all-in) by his neighbor on the left. Leah snap called, showing {Q-}{Q-}.

The board came {7-Diamonds}{j-Spades}{j-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Spades}, and Leah's queens held up for yet another knockout, increasing his chip stack to around 24000.

Rabinowitz Can't Beat Flush Or Quads

Level 6 : 100/200, 25 ante

Darren Rabinowitz pushed all in for 1,575 on a flop of {k-Spades}{q-Spades}{3-Spades}. He got two callers. The turn came the {k-Hearts}. Both remaining players checked. The river came the {5-Diamonds} the first player checked, the second bet 1,500 and the first called.

Rabinowitz said, "Good luck guys" even before the other two turned their hands over. He couldn't win as he had {j-Spades}{10-Diamonds} for a missed straight draw. He did not realize how far dead he was even on the flop as one opponent had {a-Spades}{8-Spades} for the flopped nuts, and the second guy had the nuts of {k-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} for turned quads.

Rabinowitz is out but we are sure we will see more of this 7th place finisher from Event 3.

Not This Time for Ivey

Level 6 : 100/200, 25 ante
Phil Ivey
Phil Ivey

Phil Ivey registered late for today's tournament only to bust in the early rounds, just before level 6.

We happened to be there when he went all-in, lobbing 2300 of his remaining stack into the pot. His opponent, Norm Wheatcroft, called the bet.

Ivey: {a-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}
Wheatcroft: {q-Clubs}{q-Spades}

The board came {9-Diamonds}{10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}, totally missing Ivey's live ace and holding up for Wheatcroft's queens. Wheatcroft remains amongst the chip leaders at around 16,000.

Benger Busts One

Level 6 : 100/200, 25 ante

Griffin Benger looked away from his phone for a mili second and found pocket queens in the big blind. There was more than enough action before him with a raise to 425 from the under plus two and a three-bet from the hijack to 1,125. Benger shoved for 7,625 and the first raiser folded. The hijack thought for a second and made the call.

Benger tabled {Q-Spades}{Q-Diamonds} and was in a race situation against the hijack's {A-Hearts}{K-Spades}. What started out as a fair race was not so much anymore after the flop: {Q-Clubs}{4-Spades}{2-Diamonds}. The {6-Diamonds} on the turn sealed the deal for Benger and the {9-Clubs} was just there for good measures.

The Bounahra Double-Up

Level 6 : 100/200, 25 ante

It's something like the Kansas City Shuffle, but than with poker. Bounahra just gave a big high five to Antonio Esfandiari after doubling up from the big blind. We missed the action and were only alerted by Bounahra's shout. We speeded over and could just write down that he had {Q-Hearts}{6-Hearts} and three hearts on the table. Bounahra's daughter is also playing a few tables over, but didn't get involved with the celebrations.
