Hellmuth Among Pre-Dinner Eliminations

Level 6 : 150/300, 0 ante

There has been a flurry of eliminations here just before the dinner break. Among them was 1989 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Phil Hellmuth.

His demise came on an {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{5-Clubs} flop with four players in the hand. Hellmuth and another player were already all in, while Calvin Anderson and another player created a side pot that resulted in the former being all in. The {9-Clubs} turn and {6-Clubs} river were run out and Anderson tabled the {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} for half the main and side pots. His opponent showed the {a-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Clubs} for half the side pot, the other at-risk player showed {q-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{8-Diamonds} for half the main pot and Hellmuth was left out in the cold with the {10-Spades}{10-Clubs}{a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}.
