Up and Down for Brunson...Again

Level 29 : 30,000/60,000, 0 ante

No one's chip stack at this final table has been more inconsistent then that of Todd Brunson. Brunson has been the short stack for quite some time now, and he keeps alternating between scooping pots, and getting scooped himself. This was on display in the last few minutes, as we saw Brunson lose and win a big pot.

Brunson started the action by calling on the button. Can Kim Hua called from the small blind, and Calen McNeil checked his option. The flop came down {q-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}, and it was checked to Brunson, who fired out a bet. Hua tossed in a check raise, and McNeil got out of the way. Brunson called, and the turn brought the {6-Diamonds}. Hua checked again, and this time, he just called after Brunson bet. The river was the {8-Spades}, and both players checked. Hua showed {9-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Hearts}{k-Hearts} for two pair, and it was good enough to take the whole pot.

A few hands later, Brunson once again called from the button, and both Hua and McNeil came along to make it a family pot. The flop came {8-Clubs}{5-Spades}{4-Spades}, and it was checked to Brunson, who fired out a bet. Only Hua made the call, and the turn brought the {j-Spades}. Hua check called again, and the rive was the {a-Spades}. This time, Hua fired out, and Brunson quickly raised. Hua called, and Brunson showed {q-Spades}{7-Spades}{3-Hearts}{2-Spades} for the nut low and second nut flush. Hua said "you get three quarters," and showed {2-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{9-Diamonds}.

Despite taking most of that hand, Brunson is still fairly low with 550,000.
