Benyamine Crippled

Level 23

Razz

David Benyamine: {x-}{x-} / {6-}{3-}{q-}{k-} / {k-}
Adam Friedman : {2-}{4-} / {3-}{7-}{9-}{6-} / {2-}

After it was brought in with a {K-}, Adam Friedman completed and David Benyamine called. The latter then led out on fourth, the former called and it was off to fifth. Friedman took the lead and promptly bet, which Benyamine called. The action repeated itself on sixth, and then Friedman bet dark headed to seventh. Benyamine looked down at a second {K-}, flashed it and then folded. Friedman showed {2-}{4-} in the whole and another {2-} on seventh for a 7-6-4-3-2 low.

Konstantin Puchkov Eliminated in 8th Place ($30,876)

Level 23
Konstantin Puchkov - 8th Place
Konstantin Puchkov - 8th Place

Omaha Hi-Lo

Adam Friedman raised from the cutoff only to have a short-stacked Konstantin Puchkov three-bet to 45,000 from the small blind, leaving himself a single orange T1,000 chip behind. The big folded and Friedman four-bet. Konstantin called off his last chip and the cards were turned up:

Puchkov: {a-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}
Friedman: {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}

"How am I going to win this one?" Friedman asked aloud after the flop fell {k-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{j-Clubs}.

"Five or nine," Greg Mueller responded. No sooner did he say it than the dealer burned and turned the {9-Clubs}. Puchkov's face dropped and he watched helplessly as the useless {6-Clubs} completed the board on the river.

Friedman won the hand with a pair of nines while Puchkov shook hands with the remaining players and then exited in eighth place.

Benyamine and Scholl Chop

Level 23

Omaha Hi-Lo

David Benyamine made it 30,000 to go and Benjamin Scholl made the call to see a {4-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Spades} flop fall. Benyamine continued for 15,000 only to have Scholl raise. Benyamine three-bet to 45,000 and Scholl called before Benyamine bet and then called all-in on the {8-Clubs} on the turn.

Benyamine: {A-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}
Scholl: {A-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}

The river landed the {K-Spades} and both players chopped it up.

Mueller Misses

Level 23

Omaha Hi-Lo

Chris Klodnicki made it 30,000 to go and Greg Mueller called from the big blind. Both players checked the {3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop before Mueller led out when the {J-Diamonds} landed on the turn.

Klodnicki called, and then bet the {3-Diamonds} on the river only to have Mueller muck his {A-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{5-Spades}{4-Hearts} for a bricked flush and low wrap-around.

Scholl Trips Up Mueller

Level 23

Omaha Hi-Lo

Greg "FBT" Mueller raised to 30,000 from early position and Konstantin Puchkov called from middle position. Benjamin Scholl came along from the big blind and three players saw a flop of {4-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}. Scholl checked, Mueller bet and Puchkov got out of the way. Scholl then woke up with a check-raise, Mueller called and the dealer burned and turned the {10-Clubs}.

Scholl bet, Mueller called and then both players checked the {5-Diamonds} river. Scholl rolled over the {4-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{9-Hearts} for trip fours, and it was good as Mueller flashed {a-}{a-}{x-}{x-} before sending his cards to the muck.

Benyamine Folds River

Level 23

Limit Hold'em

David Benyamine made it 30,000 to go from early position only to have Viatcheslav Ortynskiy three-bet to 45,000. Benyamine called before check-calling 15,000 on the {8-Clubs}{2-Spades}{10-Spades} flop.

The turn of the {8-Hearts} was greeted with another bet by Ortynskiy for 30,000 and Benyamine made the call before opting to check-fold for 30,000 when Ortynskiy led out when the {5-Clubs} landed.

Quite the Accomplished Final Table

Level 23

To say this final table is accomplished is an understatement. It is literally full of some of the best mixed game players in the world, many who've had success in the past and some more recently.

For example, Greg Mueller finished third in Event #8 $2,500 Eight-Game Mix for $89,673, which came one year after finishing runner-up in the same event for $167,637.

While this isn't mixed game per se, it does feature the five H.O.R.S.E. variants, and one man who knows how to drive a horse (both literally and as it applies to the game) is Konstantin Puchkov. Not only has he worked as a horse driver, he won the 2010 WSOP Event #31 $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. for $256,820.

Speaking of winning H.O.R.S.E. tournaments, 2007 WSOP Player of the Year Tom Schneider knows how to do that as he won Event #15 $1,500 H.O.R.S.E. a week ago for $258,960 and his third gold bracelet. That was the same tournament in which Viatcheslav Ortynskiy finished third for $108,701.

The fact that Schneider and Ortynskiy have made back-to-back H.O.R.S.E. final tables is nothing short of incredible.
