Grizzle Getting Low Early

Level 3 : 300/600, 0 ante

Sam Grizzle opened with a middle position raise and Stuart Rutter three-bet from the next seat over. Action folded back around to Grizzle who tossed out a call.

The flop brought {9-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds} and Grizzle check-called a continuation bet. The turn was the {2-Clubs} and Grizzle checked again. Rutter shot out another bet and Grizzle stuck around. The {3-Diamonds} finished the board and Grizzle check-called once more.

Rutter slapped down {J-Spades}{J-Hearts} onto the felt.

"It's good," said Grizzle as he shook his head. Grizzle tossed his hand away and is now down to about 4,800. Rutter, on the other hand, is now sitting on about 17,500.

Beginning to See Eliminations

Level 3 : 300/600, 0 ante

With fairly large starting stacks and relatively low limits early in the event, it can take a few levels before the first bustout. But in level three, we've had at least one elimination.

The first bustout that we noticed was Arkadiy Tsinis, who has left the tournament area with no chips in front of his former seat.

Monnette Applies Pressure

Level 3 : 300/600, 0 ante

Jeff Lisandro opened with a preflop raise and John Monnette made it three bets from the seat next door. It folded around to Lisandro and he called.

The dealer produced a flop of {8-Spades}{4-Hearts}{10-Spades} and Lisandro checked to the raiser. Monnette continued out and Lisandro called the bet. The {A-Hearts} hit the turn and Lisandro checked once again. Monnette fired and Lisandro went into the tank for about twenty seconds before releasing his cards. Monnette picked up the pot and now has about 13,500.

"I Don't Have It."

Level 3 : 300/600, 0 ante

Daniel Negreanu and J.J. Liu saw the flop of {10-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}. Negreanu check-called Liu's bet, and then did so again when the dealer turned the {2-Clubs}. The {5-Clubs} fell on the river, and Negreanu checked again. When Liu bet, Negreanu simply said, "I don't have it," and mucked his cards.

As Liu was stacking her newly-earned chips, Negreanu said he had a lot of outs, including an open-ended straight draw and maybe just a king. He added, afterward, that he held {k-}{j-}. Despite not hitting his numerous outs, Negreanu still had 25,000 in front of him after the hand, while Liu is now up to 19,000.
