Day 2 Ends Two Players Away from the Money

Level 20 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Chip leader Martin Jacobson and Big One for One Drop Winner Antonio Esfandiari
Chip leader Martin Jacobson and Big One for One Drop Winner Antonio Esfandiari

Despite fielding several objections from the surviving players, Day 2 of Event #47: $111,111 One Drop High Rollers No-Limit Hold'em ended two players away from the money. At the end of the 10th and final level of the day, the tournament staff called Jack Effel, the Vice President of the World Series of Poker, who ruled that the players would bag-and-tag rather than burst the bubble. There were then complaints when the players learned that there would be a total redraw, but this is a standard WSOP rule. At the completion of each day at the WSOP, there is a total redraw, unless the players have already redrawn to three tables. The redraw hasn't happened yet in Event 47, thus the remaining 26 players were randomly dispersed. You can find the table draw below.

Leading the surviving players is Swede Martin Jacobson. Jacobson bagged 3,255,000, just 5,000 more than Connor Drinan, and two other players will enter Day 3 with over three million chips: Day 1 chip leader Brandon Steven (3,140,00) and East Coast legend Matt Glantz (3,005,000). Drinan surged at the end of the night when he was moved to the feature table, immediately four-betting and then taking a key pot off of Haralabos Voulgaris. Jacobson and Drinan are both seated at the same table tomorrow, and we'll keep our eyes pealed for potential fireworks.

Also joining the chip leaders on Day 3 is the winner of the Big One for One Drop Antonio Esfandiari (2,970,000), 2013 WSOP bracelet winner Martin Finger (2,910,000), Bill "Leroy Jenkins" Perkins (2,750,000), Phil Laak (1,760,000), Anthony "End Boss" Gregg (1,750,000), Shaun Deeb (1,215,000), and 2012 Octo-Niner Jeremy Ausmus (995,000).

While these players prospered, others were unable to survive the day. Eugene Katchalov, Owais Ahmed, Dan Kelly, Jason Mo, Tobias Reinkemeir, Jason Senti, Jason Somerville, Joe Kuether, Jason Mercier, Kyle Julius, and Daniel Negreanu all fell short of the $173,723 minimum cash.

Play will resume on Friday at 1 p.m. PDT in the Blue Section of the Amazon Room. The plan is to play until a winner is crowned, but with a six-figure final bubble looming and then a final table bubble to come right after that, there is a possibility that this event expands to four days. We hope that you join us tomorrow, but for now, good night from Sin City!

Haralabob Takes a Hit, Then Doubles Back

Level 20 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Haralabos Voulgaris
Haralabos Voulgaris

Haralabos Voulgaris opened to 110,000 from the hijack seat, Conor Drinan defended his big blind, and the flop fell {5-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}. Drinan checked, Voulgaris continued for 130,000, and Drinan called.

The turn was the {4-Diamonds}, Drinan opted to lead out for 230,000, and Voulgaris flicked his cards into the muck.

The very next hand, Voulgaris open-shoved for 525,000 from under-the-gun-plus-one. The action folded to Olivier Busquet, who snap-called in the big blind.

Voulgaris: {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs}
Busquet: {9-Clubs}{9-Hearts}

Voulgaris flopped top two when the dealer spread {2-Hearts}{k-Spades}{10-Spades}, and held as the turn and river came {8-Spades}, {a-Diamonds} respectively. He now sits with 1.11 million chips, while Drinan and Busquet have 3.85 million and 2.3 million respectively.

#WeNeedIt

Level 20 : 25,000/50,000, 5,000 ante
Anthony Gregg
Anthony Gregg

Haralabos Voulgaris raised to 110,000 from late position, Anthony Gregg, who three-bet jammed the previous hand, moved all in for 965,000, and the action folded back to Voulgaris, who called.

Voulgaris: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}
Gregg: {k-Hearts}{k-Clubs}

The window card was the {q-Clubs}, giving Voulgaris a set of queens, and it was followed by the {9-Spades} and the {5-Hearts}. The turn was the {10-Diamonds}, giving Gregg a gut-shot straight draw, and he had six outs to survive.

The {k-Spades} was one of them, and when it hit the felt on the river, Calvin Anderson and some other railbirds blurted "Ohhhh!"

Gregg doubled to 2,040,000 chips, while Voulgaris slipped to 810,000.

Haralabob Busts Rajkumar

Level 19 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Vivek Rajkumar - Eliminated
Vivek Rajkumar - Eliminated

Vivek Rajkumar raised a large majority of his stack from early position, and Haralabos Voulgaris three-bet near the button. Both blinds released, and Rajkumar committed the rest of his stack.

Voulgaris: {8-Diamonds}{8-Spades}
Rajkumar: {a-Clubs}{7-Clubs}

Voulgaris flopped Rajkumar nearly dead when the dealer fanned {k-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{8-Clubs}, and it was officially all over when the {4-Hearts} turned. The {9-Hearts} completed the board, and Rajkumar stood from his seat.

"Good luck, gentlemen," he told the table.

He exits short of the money, while Voulgaris now has 1.8 million chips.

Chewy Checks a Full House on the River

Level 19 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Andrew Lichtenberger
Andrew Lichtenberger

Brandon Steven opened to 85,000 from the hijack seat, Andrew Lichtenberger defended his big blind, and the flop fell {7-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{4-Clubs}. Both players checked.

The turn was the {5-Spades}, Lichtenberger led out for 140,000, and Steven put in a big raised to 400,000. Lichtenberger reached for pink T50,000 chips, and made the call.

The {5-Diamonds} completed the board, Lichtenberger checked, and Steven instantly checked behind.

"Two pair," Steven said, but before he could table his hand, Lichtenberger ripped over {7-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for a full house.

Jason is No Mo

Level 19 : 20,000/40,000, 5,000 ante
Jason Mo (Day 1) - Eliminated
Jason Mo (Day 1) - Eliminated

Jason Mo open-shoved for 155,000 from early position, Olivier Busquet called in the hijack seat, and Andrew Lichtenberger three-bet to 320,000 in the cutoff. Haralabos Voulgaris spread Lichtenberg's bet, then took a look at his stack. He then shot a look at both Busquet and Lichtenberger before folding.

Both blinds released, and the action was on Busquet who tank-folded as well.

Lichtenberger: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Mo: {2-Hearts}{2-Spades}

Busquet then said that he folded a "big pair."

"I don't even know if it was good or not," Busquet said, trying to ignore the fact that Lichtenberger had tabled two kings.

The board rolled out {q-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{a-Diamonds}, and Mo was eliminated.

After the hand was over, Voulgaris admitted that he almost moved all in with an ace.

Perkins Wins Massive Pot To Bust Reinkemeier

Level 18 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Bill Perkins
Bill Perkins

Wow. That's really all we can say to this one.

Picking up the action on the {Q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} flop just before the break, Bill Perkins checked to Tobias Reinkemeier in a pot that had already swelled to a few hundred thousand. Reinkemeier fired a bet of 175,000, but Perkins wanted to play for more and check-raised to 475,000. Reinkemeier got the raise amount, then made the call to see the turn.

On the turn, the dealer added the {8-Spades} to the board. Perkins asked Reinkemeier how much he had left, and the German moved his hands so Perkins could see. Perkins asked "How much?" a second time, and Reinkemeier pointed to his stack.

"Can you tell me how much? I can't count," said Perkins.

Reinkemeier then broke down his uneven stacks to show Perkins exactly what he had, which was 987,000. Perkins saw this, then announced a bet of 700,000.

Reinkemeier tanked for a bit, while Perkins stared intently at him. Eventually, Reinkemeier looked up at the dealer and said he was all in.

"I call!" exclaimed Perkins, standing from his chair and tabling the {Q-Spades}{Q-Hearts} for top set and the nuts. Reinkemeier turned up the {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs} and was behind.

"Oh my god! Oh my god! Sweat it! Sweat it!" yelled Perkins, awaiting the river card.

The dealer burned one last time and placed the {3-Clubs} out on the river. Perkins erupted from his chair, screaming at the top of his lungs, "LEERRRROOOYYYY JJEEENNNKKKIINNNSSS!!!! PPEEEERRRRRKKKYYYY LLLLIIIIIVVVEEESSS!!!" He then sprung into the arms of Antonio Esfandiari and screamed some more before heading over to his rail and slapping them high fives from above.

"Sometimes you think you're having fish for dinner, and a barracuda comes and bites you in the ass!" yelled Perkins amongst a few other things.

After the hand, Shaun Deeb said to Esfandiari, "I think Perkins winning this would be better for poker than you."

Laak Turns the Nuts

Level 18 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Phil Laak
Phil Laak

Andrew Lichtenberger raised to 65,000 from the hijack seat, Phil Laak called on the button, and Jason Mo defended his big blind. The flop fell {3-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, Mo and Lichtenberger both checked, and Laak fired out 155,000. Only Mo called.

The turn was the {9-Spades}, Mo checked, and Laak asked the dealer to spread the pot. He then fired out a hefty bet of 456,000, and Mo check-raised all in for effectively 1,056,000.

"I call," Laak said instantly. "I have the nuts."

Laak: {10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}
Mo: {5-Spades}{4-Spades}

Mo had flopped a straight, but Laak indeed turned the nuts. Mo could still bust the Unabomber with a spade on the river, but it was not to be as the {10-Clubs} completed the board.

Mo plummeted to around 250,000 chips, while Laak now has over 2.6 million chips.

A few hands later, Olivier Busquet busted Jason Senti with unknown action.

Joe Kuether (Day 1) - Eliminated

Jason Koon raised to 60,000 from the cutoff, Joe Kuether moved all in for 253,000 from the small blind, and Bill Perkins re-shoved from the big blind. Koon folded.

Kuether: {q-Hearts}{q-Clubs}
Perkins: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

Perkins' aces held as the board came {9-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{4-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}, and Kuether was eliminated. This time, Antonio Esfandiari came over to Perkins to celebrate.

"You're the best fish, Perk," Esfandiari told him. "Win or lose, you're happy. You're the best fish."

Perky Lives

Level 18 : 15,000/30,000, 5,000 ante
Bill Perkins
Bill Perkins

George Abdallah moved all in from the hijack seat, and Bill Perkins called all in for 289,000 from the cutoff.

Abdallah: {a-Clubs}{j-Clubs}
Perkins: {a-Hearts}{q-Hearts}

Perkins' hand held up as the board came {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}, and he doubled to around 658,000 chips. Abdallah fell to 52,000.

The very next hand, Abdallah moved all in from early position, Bill Perkins re-shoved for 653,000 from the hijack seat, and Tobias Reinkemeier called on the button.

Abdallah: {a-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}
Perkins: {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}
Reinkemeier: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}

Perkins got to his feat as the flop fell {j-Hearts}{7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}, letting out a big sigh when he realized that the jack missed Reinkemeier. The {9-Clubs} on the turn was another brick, and so too was the {q-Hearts} on the river.

"PERKY LIVES!!!!" Perkins yelled at the top of his lungs.

"PERKY LIVES!!!!" Antonio Esfandiari shouted back at him from halfway across the room.

"I LOVE YOU ANTONIO!" Perkins yelled.

Phil Laak got in on the action, shouting from the feature table, and Perkins joyfully dragged in the more than 1.4-million chip pot.
