Seed Loses Some

Level 1

Omaha-8

We picked up with the action on a board of {3-Spades}{5-Hearts}{8-Spades}{7-Spades} to see a player check over to Huck Seed. Seed came out with a bet and his opponent quickly check-raised the action. Seed thought for a moment before tossing out a call.

The {7-Diamonds} paired the board on the river and both players quickly checked. Seed's opponent showed {K-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} which was good enough to make Seed muck his hand. The 1996 WSOP Main Event champion is now down to about 5,200.

A Look Back: Selbst's 2012 Win

Level 2
Vanessa Selbst - 2012 Champion
Vanessa Selbst - 2012 Champion

Vanessa Selbst, reigning champion of this event, is once again in the field today and looking to hold on to her title and win her third WSOP bracelet.

Each year since Selbst's first bracelet win in 2008, players of the game posed the question "Will a woman win an open event this year?" The years ticked down on the calendar, with no female player taking down an open event for 2009, 2010, or 2011. In 2012, Selbst was able to conquer the field in this very event and win not only her second bracelet, but also end the drought of no female winners over the summer at the WSOP.

Here is an excerpt from last year's recap of this very event:

The event began with 420 other hopefuls and it’s Vanessa Selbst standing alone at the end of play with her second WSOP bracelet and $244,259.
Selbst is the first woman to win an open bracelet event since she won her first bracelet in a 2008 $1,500 Pot Limit Omaha event. Selbst earned all but one elimination at the final table. She is the sixth woman to have multiple bracelets; she joins Barbara Enright, Nani Dollison, Jennifer Harman, Susie Isaacs and Starla Brodie.

Can Selbst do it again and capture her third bracelet? Only time will tell, however one certainty remains that she is a forced to be reckoned with in this field.

Technical Issues

Level 3

We're having internet issues here in the Amazon room, which is leading to the slowing of posts being made. Updates will continue as always, though they may not be as fast or constant as usually delivered (at least for the time-being).
