Calvin Clipped

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Calvin Anderson opened with a button raise only to have the small blind three-bet. Anderson responded with a small four-bet and the small blind shoved with Anderson instantly calling.

Anderson: {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Opponent: {A-Hearts}{7-Hearts}

The board rolled out {Q-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{Q-Hearts} to see Anderson's opponent river a flush to put him down to just 8,100 in chips.

Queens for Francis

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

With the board reading {3-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} and the pot swelling over the 45,000-chip mark, we found Philipp Gruissem pushing out a stack of yellow 1,000-denomination chips amounting to a bet of 23,000.

His lone opponent in the hand - Patrick Francis - went deep into the tank before making the call.

The river landed the {3-Diamonds} and both players quickly checked as Francis tabled his {Q-Diamonds}{Q-Spades} to win the pot and move to 165,000 while Guissem slipped to 90,000 in chips.

Baldwin Eliminates Sammartino

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

Eric Baldwin opened to 2,400 from under the gun plus one, and was called by Jason Wheeler in the hijack. The action was then on Dario Sammartino on the button, who moved all in for his last 25,000 in chips. The decision was then back on Baldwin, who thought about his decision for a moment, before making the call, as Wheeler got out of the way.

Sammartino: {9-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Baldwin: {a-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The board ran out {5-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{5-Spades} to see Sammartino exit, after Baldwin made a full house on the river.

Gruissem Surges Back Up

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante

After recently losing a pot to Patrick Francis, Philipp Gruissem has made a huge comeback after doubling up.

With the pot roughly sitting at 50,000 and the board reading {5-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{4-Spades}{9-Spades} we found Gruissem all in for 62,400. His opponent went deep into the tank before making the call.

Gruissem: {J-Clubs}{J-Spades}
Opponent: {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}

The river landed the {8-Diamonds} and Gruissem doubled through to 180,000 while his opponent was crippled to just 3,600.

Esfandiari Dusted by Darner

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 200 ante
Antonio Esfandiari
Antonio Esfandiari

As our PokerNews reporter was gathering the details of the Philipp Gruissem hand you just read, another massive hand had developed on the adjacent table.

The board read {7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{8-Spades}{K-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Esfandiari was all in holding {A-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} against the {K-Hearts}{10-Hearts} of Mark Darner.

Although not exactly sure of when the money went in, it was overhead saying that it went in on the flop, and with Darner striking a pair on the turn, Esfandiari was sent out the door once both player's stacks were broken down.

"What does it feel like to have all the money kid?" asked Phil Laak as Darner stacked his chips.

Darner just continued stacking his chips, and at our count it looks to be around 265,000.
