Selbst Sent Packing by Schulman's Straight

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Vanessa Selbst
Vanessa Selbst

Five players entered the pot for 2,500 as the dealer fanned a {10-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop with the action checking to Nick Schulman who bet out 2,500 with Mike Leah and the button player calling before Vanessa Selbst check-raised from the big blind to 5,000.

Schulman then made it three bets to go with Leah and the button calling before Selbst called all in for 6,800 total. The turn landed the {9-Clubs} and Leah took the lead with a 5,000-chip bet as only Schulman called before he led for 5,000 when the river landed the {Q-Diamonds}.

Leah called and tabled his {A-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{6-}, but it would be Schulman's {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{J-Hearts}{8-Hearts} for a straight that would see him scoop the pot as Selbst flashed her {5-Spades}{4-}{3-Hearts}{2-} and headed to the rail.

Helm Scoops

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Craig Hartman came in for a raise in the cutoff, Ryan Miller called out of the small blind, and Bradley Helm defended from the big blind. All three players checked on a flop of {k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}, and the turn was the {6-Diamonds}. Both players in the blinds checked, Hartman fired out a bet and only Helm called.

The river was the {7-Spades}, Helm tossed out a bet and Hartman called. Helm revealed {7-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{2-Spades} for a flush and a low, while Hartman unhappily mucked.

George and Obst Chop

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Christopher George opened to 5,000 and both James Obst and Dan Kelly defended their blinds to see a {A-Spades}{Q-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop.

George continued for 2,500 and only Obst made the call before the Australian led for 5,000 when the turn landed the {5-Hearts}. George called, and when the river fell the {10-Clubs}, Obst checked to him and he opted to bet out 5,000.

Obst quickly made the call tabling his {K-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Spades}{3-Spades} to take the low as George's {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds} took the high.

Four Players, Three Bets Preflop, Two at Showdown, One Chop

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Perry Friedman
Perry Friedman

Three bets went in preflop between Andrew Brown, Larry Wright, Perry Friedman and Shirley Rosario, and the quartet took a flop of {2-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{7-Hearts}. Brown and Wright both knuckled, Friedman tossed out a bet, and all three of his opponents called.

The turn was the {4-Clubs}, bringing a qualifying low along with a club flush draw, and the action once again checked to Friedman. He bet, Rosario folded and both Brown and Wright called.

The {q-Spades} completed the board, Brown and Wright checked a third and final time, and Friedman fired for a third time. This time only Wright called. Friedman showed {a-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{6-Clubs}{3-Hearts} for the nut low and no pair, which was a relief to Wright, who tabled {9-Hearts}{4-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts} for two pair.

Brown announced that he had the nut flush draw, and that a five would've given him "the nut straight."

Give It to the Skinny Kid, Sunshine!

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante
Layne Flack
Layne Flack

Layne Flack found himself all in for his last 7,300 with Tom Koral making the call.

Flack: {A-Spades}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}
Koral: {A-Clubs}{K-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{2-Spades}

The board ran out {A-Hearts}{10-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Flack announced, "Give it to the skinny kid, sunshine!"

The dealer pushed the pot to Flack who doubled to roughly 16,000, although his announcement of "skinny kid" may be misinterpreted, as it can easily be argued that Koral is skinnier than back-to-back Flack!

Deeb Chopped Up

Shaun Deeb busts

Shaun Deeb was all in and preflop, and four players had him at risk: Brock Parker, Craig Hartman, Jason McPherson and Ryan Miller. The flop came {9-Spades}{5-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}, the action checked to Parker and he put out a bet. Everyone called except McPherson and the turn was the {7-Clubs}. Hartman led out for a bet, both Miller and Parker called and the river was the {3-Spades}.

Hartman fired out a bet, both players called again, and Hartman announced he had a straight, fanning {a-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}. Parker revealed {a-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for the low, and Deeb tabled {a-Clubs}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs}{3-Hearts} before exiting.

Polk Fills Up

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

Nick Schulman raised to 5,000 and Doug Polk called on the button to see a {6-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{3-Clubs} flop fall with Schulman continuing for 2,500. Polk called and when the dealer delivered the {10-Spades} on the turn, Schulman tossed in 5,000.

Polk responded by making it 10,000 to go with Schulman calling as the {10-Diamonds} completed the board on the river. Schulman checked and Polk bet out 5,000 to put Schulman into the tank for nearly two minutes before he made the call.

Polk tabled his {10-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Hearts} for a full house and Schulman quickly mucked while slipping to 33,000 as Polk climbed over 80,000 in chips.

The French Are Here

Level 14 : 2,500/5,000, 0 ante

"I've never seen you at the WSOP before. Where are you from?" asked Layne Flack to the player in the one seat.

"France." stated the one seat who turned out to be Claude Marbleu.

"The French are pretty good at Omaha right?" asked Flack.

"We are ok." responded Marbleu.

Another player then added, "Well you're doing pretty good for yourself today so keep it up!"

Marbleu is sitting with roughly 130,000 in chips - more than double what he started the day with.
