Event #30: $1,500 Seven-Card Stud Hi-Low
Day 1 Started
Welcome back to the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino and the 2014 World Series of Poker for Event #30: $1,500 Seven-Card Stud Hi-Low!
This is the first straight Seven-Card Stud Hi-Low tournament of the series, while also being the prelude to the $10,000 Seven-Card Stud Hi-Low Championship in just a few days.
Last year saw Daniel Idema top a 558-player field to capture the $184,590 first prize and his second WSOP gold bracelet.
The PokerNews Live Reporting Team will be providing extensive coverage throughout Day 1 from 4:00 p.m. (PST) of every bring-in, scoop and outdraw live from the 2014 World Series of Poker!
Level: 1
Limits: 50/100
Ante: 75
Event #30 is now underway with the cards in the air!
Although on the structure sheet it read a 75-ante, it will be a 75-chip ante from only the player on the button.
With total entrants closing in on 400, the tournament is currently spread amongst both the Orange and Purple sections here in the Amazon Room.

Daniel Idema just took his seat in the purple section.
Idema only has one cash this WSOP, but there is probably some comfort returning as the Champion, and Idema will hope to parlay that confidence into not just a second cash, but potentially a final table and a back-to-back repeat.

We are just about to tick into level two and there are 443 entrants already in the tournament.
We are still roughly 115 players away from topping last year's mark, and with five more levels remaining before registration closes (approximately 10:45 p.m. PST), the 558-player mark will get a good push.
