Alberto Gomez Eliminated in 16th Place ($26,584)

Level 2 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante
Alberto Gomez - 16th place
Alberto Gomez - 16th place

Alberto Gomez raised to 15,000 on the button, Scott Davies three-bet to 40,000 from the big blind, and Gomez called to see a {9-Clubs}{7-Spades}{3-Clubs} flop.

Davies continued for 35,000, Gomez called, and the {Q-Hearts} turn fell. Davies bet 75,000 this time, Gomez again called and the {Q-Clubs} river completed the board. Davies shoved for about 310,000 effective and sent Gomez into the tank for about 45 seconds before he called.

Davies tabled {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} for trip queens and Gomez nodded that it was good, flashing {A-Hearts}{A-Diamonds} as he mucked.

Gomez finished in 16th place, while Davies moves on to meet the winner of Dee Tiller vs. Jason Koon.

Negreanu in Trouble

Level 2 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

The tension in the match between Daniel Negreanu and Tommy Chen is building, but it's not because the latter is winning most of the pots. Negreanu and Chen are talking about "the future" and Chen seems convinced a positive future is only possible with the help of cryptocurrencies.

"You do it your way, I do it mine," Negreanu said, as he explained he knows nothing about either coding nor cryptocurrencies.

"You do realize that your statement is very arrogant, right?" Negreanu asked Chen, who nodded and said that he didn't care if it was.

The first hand we saw went as follows: After Chen limped for 6,000, Negreanu raised it up to 21,000. Chen called and the flop brought {Q-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{6-Spades}, after which Negreanu bet 27,000 and Chen called. On the turn, the {3-Spades}, and the river, the {8-Hearts}, the action was checked, and Negreanu announced he had "seven-high." Negreanu showed {7-Spades}{2-Diamonds} and Chen took the pot down holding {A-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}.

On the very next hand, Negreanu raised to 12,000 and Chen made it 37,000 to go. Negreanu called and the flop was {3-Spades}{9-Clubs}{4-Clubs} and Chen check-called 32,000. On the turn, the {5-Diamonds}, both players checked, then the river was the {Q-Diamonds}. Negreanu folded when Chen bet 100,000 and the latter extended his lead.

Mandavia Back in the Lead

Level 2 : 3,000/6,000, 0 ante

The board read {2-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Spades}{6-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} when Ankush Mandavia bet 55,000 after John Smith had checked. "I call," Smith said after about 30 seconds.

Mandavia showed {5-Clubs}{4-Clubs}, and Smith referenced the "lucky rivers" his opponent had been getting in these last couple of hands.

Negreanu Makes a Straight

Level 1 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

Tommy Chen raised to 9,000 from the button and Daniel Negreanu called. The flop brought out {Q-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Negreanu check-called another 9,000.

The turn was the {J-Clubs} and Negreanu checked again to Chen who bet 22,000. Negreanu paused before making the call, then on the river the {8-Hearts} popped up.

Negreanu checked and then quickly called Chen's 62,000-chip bet. Chen tabled {Q-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and that was no good against the Canadian's {10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for a rivered straight.

Early Lead For Smith

Level 1 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

John Smith, the man who busted Phil Ivey late last night in the last-to-complete match of the previous round, is off to a great start against heads-up specialist Ankush Mandavia.

We just saw a {5-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{10-Hearts} board on the table when Mandavia called Smith's 37,000-chip bet. Smith tabled {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} and Mandavia tapped the table in defeat.

Chen Leads Negreanu Early

Level 1 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante

With the board reading {7-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{A-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}, Tommy Chen bet 62,000 from the big blind. Daniel Negreanu raised to 192,000 on the button, and after a few moments Chen reraised to 337,000. Negreanu went into the tank for a bit, but ultimately folded.
