Boeree Can't Find a Call

Level 7 : 150/300, 25 ante

A player raised to 600 from early position and Liv Boeree called from the button. The big blind also called and the flop came {2-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{j-Clubs}. The player in the big blind checked and the original raiser bet 1,000. Boeree raised to 2,000 and the big blind got out of the way.

After a moment of thought, Boeree's opponent moved all in and Boeree gave it up.

High Drama

Level 7 : 150/300, 25 ante

On a table that includes Olivier Busquet and Matthew Waxman, we walked up to a completed board of {6-Hearts}{2-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Diamonds} and one player with 3,000 and an all-in button in front of him and another player with 7,500 in front of him.

The dealer was awaiting a fourth floor supervisor to come for a final ruling. As we were conveyed the information from a player at the table, apparently the original bettor had thought the raise on the river was only a call and declared that he only had a six...and later, "it doesn't matter I'm folding anyway." Upon checking his cards, he may have seen something different than he originally thought and, at that point, moved all in.

The opponent wanted his hand declared dead based on his verbal declaration. However, the final ruling was that the all in would stand and the opponent folded. "You have to show now," Waxman and Busquet urged. He did show and turned over {4-Clubs}{5-Clubs} for the straight. The opponent was incensed and accused the player of angle-shooting. About half the table was buying that he misread his hand, but there were a few players who didn't necessarily believe that his intentions were innocent.

James Flopping Sets and Stacking Chips

Level 8 : 200/400, 50 ante

We caught the action after a flop of {5-Spades}{6-Spades}{q-Spades} and Kenna James facing a lead bet of 1,200 from an opponent. James raised to 3,100 and his opponent folded. James turned over {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts} to show the table his good fortune.

James has built a nice stack today, though we're not certain it's all from flopped sets.

Raghavan Picked Off

Level 8 : 200/400, 50 ante

We caught the action with a board of {a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{8-Clubs}. Piragibe Junior bet 3,500 and Ravi Raghavan made the call. The river was the {j-Clubs} and Junior checked. Raghavhan bet 8,500 and Junior snap-called. Raghavan mucked and Junior showed {2-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for just bottom pair.

Raghavan looked at this reporter and scoffed, "huh, that was a good one." Raghavan's tablemates laughed as they headed to the next hand.
