Event #52: $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship
Day 1 Completed
The biggest limit hold'em tournament of the year kicked off on Thursday and 122 players signed up for what will be a true test of skill, patience and a bit of luck. After the day, Samuel Golbuff led the pack with 124,900 in chips. He was trailed closely by Kenny Shei with 118,400, David Chiu with 109,200, and Antonio Esfandiari with 99,200.
The day started off slow, but we immediately spotted a great table with the likes of Melissa Burr, Mark Newhouse, and Joep van den Bijgaart. Later, this table added Jeff Lisandro, Dan Shak, Mike Watson, and Marco Johnson to create a start-studded affair on Day 1. From the aforementioned bunch, the field only lost Johnson and Newhouse, who could not get anything going in the later levels.
Others who busted included Jameson Painter, Brock Parker, Rep Porter, and Todd Witteles. Barry Greenstein and Andrey Zaichenko were also among the first to hit the rail, while Eli Elezra, Paul Volpe, and John Hennigan all entered late and survived the day.
Players will attempt to maneuver themselves into the money on Day 2 and ultimately the final table. In total, 18 places will get paid, with the min-cash being $16,273. The winner of this event will ultimately walk away with $309,909.
Play will resume at 2 p.m. local time and we will be right there with you to bring all your live coverage of the $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship.
