No Showdown For Schulman

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

On a {10-Hearts}{Q-Diamonds}{4-Spades}{J-Hearts} board the small blind checked to Nick Schulman in the big blind who bet. The player on the button called and the small blind did so as well.

The river was the {5-Diamonds} and Schulman bet again, getting both his opponents to fold.

No Day 2 For Sternheimer

Philip Sternheimer was just knocked out over on the entertaining table with David Steicke, Jan Sjavik and Kevin Song.

Two Pair For Elezra

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

The flop read {J-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{K-Hearts} when we caught the tail end of a raising war between Eli Elezra and Brandon Wong. Wong ended up being the one calling Elezra's raise after which the turn was the {9-Spades}.

Elezra bet and Wong called on the turn after which the river was the {3-Spades}. Elezra bet again and Wong called, only to muck when Elezra showed {K-Clubs}{4-Spades}.

The $50k Champion Joins

Level 9 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante

Seconds after the official winner pictures were taken John Hennigan ran over to this event to put him right back into action. No celebratory champagne or dinner, because the man known as Johnny World only wants to keep grinding it out here at the WSOP.

Hennigan already had a second place at this year's WSOP, as he finished second in the $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em event for $319,993, but just now he locked up the biggest cash in his career. The $50,000 Players' Championship made Hennigan $1,517,767 to put his career winnings up to around $6.2 million. Amazingly enough Hennigan finished third in the $50k last year as well.

As soon as Hennigan sat down George Danzer came over to congratulate him, and David Chiu followed shortly afterwards. Hennigan's among the world's most respected poker players and he's looking to continue his streak in this Limit Hold'em Championship.
