Feature Table Hands #52-53: Galfond Doubles

Level 16 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante
Phil Galfond
Phil Galfond

Hand #52: Action folded to Daniel Colman on the button, and he raised to 400,000 to kick off the festivities. Scott Seiver reraised to 1.35 million out of the small blind, and then Paul Newey folded from the big blind after a brief moment of thought. Colman also gave it up, and Seiver won the pot.

Hand #53: From the hijack seat, Phil Galfond moved all in for 1.365 million. In the small blind was Newey, and he took his time when the action got to him, looking at both the all-in Galfond and Tobias Reinkemeier in the big blind. He eventually folded, and Reinkemeier made the call.

Reinkemeier had the {A-Clubs}{3-Clubs}, and Galfond had the {K-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}.

On the {K-Spades}{J-Hearts}{10-Spades} flop, Galfond took the lead with a pair of kings. The turn was the {2-Clubs} to give Galfond two pair and leave Reinkemeier needing a queen to win the hand. The river was the {9-Spades}, and Galfond doubled up on the last hand before the break.

Level 16 : 100,000/200,000, 30,000 ante

Hand #69: Phil Ivey raised to 425,000 and found a call from Brandon Steven in the big blind.

The dealer fanned an {8-Clubs}{A-Clubs}{10-Hearts} flop and Steven checked. Ivey fired 500,000 and Steven quickly ditched his hand.

Hand #70: Ivey raised to 425,000 and took down the blinds and antes.

Hand #71: Christoph Vogelsang opened to 425,000 from early position and received calls from Rick Salomon in the small blind and Kaplan in the big. The flop fell {K-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{4-Clubs} and all three players checked to see the {7-Spades} river.Three more checks allowed the board to finish with the {4-Diamonds} where they all checked again. Kaplan showed {J-Clubs}{10-Diamonds} for tens and fours and that was enough to win the pot.

Daniel Colman
Daniel Colman

Hand #47: Daniel Colman put in a raise from the cutoff, Paul Newey called on the button, and Antoino Esfandiari defended his big blind. All three players checked on the flop ({8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{k-Hearts}), and the turn was the {4-Hearts}. Esfandiari led out for 630,000, Colman called, and the river was the {2-Clubs}.

Esfandiari showed {q-}{j-Spades} for queen-high, and it was no good against Colman's {10-Spades}{9-Diamonds} for a pair of tens.

Hand #48 Scott Seiver raised to 475,000 in the hijack, winning the blinds and antes.

Hand #49: Seiver raised to 400,000 in early position, Esfandiari three-bet to 915,000 on the button, and the action folded back to Seiver, who folded as well.

Hand #51: Esfandiari raised to 440,00 in the hijack seat, Seiver called in the big blind, and the flop fell {q-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}. Both players checked. The turn was a repeat four - the {4-Clubs} - and Seiver check-called a bet of 505,000.

The {a-Spades} completed the board, and Seiver won the pot with {a-Diamonds}{5-Spades}.
