Jared Jaffee is the man to catch going into Day 3 of the $1,500 Mixed-Max No-Limit Hold'em after bagging up an impressive 1,583,000 chips at the close of play on Day 2.
The day began with 181 players in the mix, but the six-handed format of the day's play resulted in those 181 hopefuls being reduced to 50 or so within the first four levels. The bubble burst during the first level of play, an unnamed player crashing out when his 
ran into the 
of Chou Chou and couldn't improve.
Once the bubble burst, the floodgates opened and the pace of the eliminations was nothing short of frantic. Mark Teltscher (159th), Liv Boeree (158th), Mark Radoja (155th), Ami Barer (134th), Gavin Smith (113rd), Matt Marafioti (112nd), Erick Lindgren (98th), Grayson Ramage (80th), Andrew Badecker (53rd), Jason Koon (39th), and Dan Kelly (30th) were among those who busted with prize money to show for their substantial efforts.
Once Germany's Felix Trau busted in 25th place, the tournament switched from six-handed to four-handed and the eliminations kept flowing to the cashier's cage, and only ended when play did for the night after the completion of 10 hour-long levels.
Once the dust had settled it was the aforementioned Jaffee who bagged up the most chips and he is now in pole position for the $405,428 first place prize and the much sought after gold WSOP bracelet.
It's not going to be plain sailing for Jaffee because among the final 10 competitors are some of the world's best poker talent.
Mark Herm starts Day 3 with 927,000 chips, while Brandon Cantu has a healthy stack of 918,000. Other notables include Xiao Peng (654,000), Jeff Gross (550,000), Mike Watson (388,000), and Anton Smirnov (381,000).
Play resumes at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon with the remaining 10 players competing at four-handed tables. Once only five players remain, they will join together on one table and once one of those final five busts, the surviving four players will compete heads-up until a champion is crowned.

Brandon Cantu checked on the 
flop, Xiao Peng bet 23,000 and then called when Cantu check-raised to 60,000. Cantu continued with his story with a 76,000 bet on the 
turn, a bet that Peng called.
