Johnston Joins The Winners; Makes Special Request

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

Shaun Johnston has emerged victorious from his one-on-one encounter and is safely through to Saturday's Day 2.

Feeling confident, Johnston requested that the famous "Red Bull" Robbie award him his bracelet when he wins this event. Will Robbie oblige we wonder.

Ten Tables Remain

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

Four more have moved on leaving us with just ten tables before the first round is complete.

Matusow And Eveslage Continue to Trade Blows

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

The clash between Mike Matusow and Chad Eveslage is exciting to watch and has seen the chip lead change hands on a number of occasions. Right now it is Matusow who holds a slender advantage, which is partly down to a hand that took place less than a minute ago.

Eveslage opened to 1,000 from the button and Matusow responded by three-betting to 3,000. Eveslage riffled some 100 chips before tossing two yellow 1,000 chips into the middle of the table to make the call.

Neither player seemed too interested in the {4-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop and it as checked to the {3-Spades} turn. It was here that Matusow took the initiative, setting the price to play at 2,100. Those betting chips hadn't been on the felt long when Eveslage relinquished his hand.

Advantage Matusow, albeit by the smallest of margins.

Joe McKeehen

PokerNews profiled Joe McKeehen earlier this week and he's continuing to impress as he has won his table, giving him his 4th career WSOP cash. Four others moved on and the Brasilia Room is getting quieter as the number of tables still playing dwindle.

Eveslage Doubles Through Matusow

Level 7 : 200/400, 50 ante

Indiana's Chad Eveslage has taken control of his heads up match with Mike "The Mouth" Matusow after doubling though him.

Matusow led for 2,500 on the {K-Spades}{2-Spades}{4-Diamonds} flop only to see Eveslage raise all-in. Matusow considered all of his options before opting to call.

Eveslage: {K-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds} for top pair
Matusow: {5-Diamonds}{4-Hearts} for middle pair.

Eveslage went further into the lead upon the arrival of the {10-Clubs} on the turn and when the {9-Clubs} completed the board, Matusow handed over a large portion of his stack and now trails almost 3-to-1.

Brannan Feeling Flush

Level 6 : 150/300, 25 ante

Dave Brannan checked the {6-Clubs}{Q-Clubs}{7-Hearts} flop, prompting a 500 bet from Jonathan Aguiar. Brannan responded with a check-raise to 1,500 and Aguiar called.

Both players tapped the table and checked the {10-Clubs} turn. Brannan led for 2,500 on the {7-Diamonds} river, Aguiar called and then mucked when he was shown the {K-Clubs}{2-Clubs} in Brannan's hand that had hit a flush on the turn.
