Akers Eliminates Samson

Level 20 : 10,000/20,000, 0 ante

When we arrived at the table, Wesley Samson had already jammed from the button for 101,000 and had picked up four preflop callers, including Karl Akers in the small blind and Aleksey Filatov, who was under the gun.

The flop came {Q-Clubs}{7-Diamonds}{3-Clubs} and after some consideration, Akers shoved for 316,000. Filatov went into the tank for about half a minute before he folded and the fourth player quickly followed suit.

Wesley Samson: {A-Spades}{K-Spades}{K-Clubs}{5-Hearts}
Karl Akers: {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{6-Spades}

Samson was ahead with his overpair and Akers needed to improve in order to win the pot. Although Samson retained his lead on the {10-Diamonds} turn, the {Q-Spades} fell on the river to give Akers trip queens, so he took the pot to send Samson to the cage.
