Pahuja Wins the Battle of the Blinds

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante

Action folded to the player in the small blind and he raised to 5,200. Vinny Pahuja defended his big blind and they went heads up to the {k-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{4-Diamonds} flop. Both players checked and the turn was the {4-Spades}.

The small blind led out with a bet of 7,000 and Pahuja called. The river was the {4-Clubs} and both players knuckled the felt. Pahuja showed {j-Hearts}{7-Hearts} for fours full of sevens and scooped the pot.

There was a pile of about 80,000 chips in the middle and the board read {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{5-Spades}{6-Spades}{6-Clubs} when we got to the table. A player informed PokerNews that Baumstein had opened the button, the big blind had called, there was a bet and call on the flop, and both players checked the turn.

On the river, the big blind had checked, Baumstein bet, and the big blind check-raised, putting Baumstein to a decision for 56,100. He went into the tank and the clock was eventually called. Before tournament staff arrived at the table to begin the countdown, Baumstein called. The big blind tabled {4-Hearts}{2-Clubs} and Baumstein rolled over {6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} to take the pot with trip sixes.

A player in late position raised to 5,500 and two players called. Elio Fox defended his big blind and they went four-handed to the {9-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{5-Spades} flop. The action checked around and the dealer burned and turned the {a-Spades}. Fox led out with a bet of 15,500 and got three quick folds from the table.

Eyster Felts a Foe

Level 15 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Kevin Eyster
Kevin Eyster

JC Tran raised to 5,500 from early position, Kevin Eyster called from middle position, and the button jammed for what looked like 29,500. Tran folded, and after some consideration, Eyster called to put his opponent at risk.

Kevin Eyster: {J-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}
Button: {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}

They were racing for the pot and Eyster needed to improve in order to win. The button retained the lead on the {4-Spades}{4-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop, but Eyster pulled ahead on the {J-Clubs} turn, and the {6-Clubs} river changed nothing, so Eyster took the pot to send his opponent to the cage.

Qui Nguyen raised to 5,500 from middle position and Tuan Le called from the cutoff. The player on the button called and they went three-handed to the {k-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop. Nguyen checked to Le who bet 7,500 and the button folded.

Nguyen called and both players checked when the {6-Hearts} hit the turn. The river was the {k-Clubs} and Nguyen checked for a third time to Le who bet 5,500. Nguyen called and Le announced "jack."

Before he could table his hand, Nguyen turned over {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts} and Le fired his hand into the muck.
