Scotty Nguyen

Scotty Nguyen opened for 9,000 and Kristen Bicknell on the button made the call.

The flop fell {7-Spades}{8-Spades}{4-Clubs} and Kristen called Nguyen's continuation bet for another 9,000. On the {4-Hearts} turn, Bicknell bet 22,000 after Nguyen checked and the latter made the call.

A {10-Spades} appeared on the river and Nguyen fired 40,000. Bicknell quickly folded her hand.

Nguyen showed {8-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} for a full house, saying "You were drawing dead on the turn."

Alvarado Collects Some

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Rick Alvarado raised to 9,000 from the hijack and the player in the cutoff three-bet to 26,000. The players on the button and in the blinds folded so the action was back on Alvarado who called.

The flop came {K-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, Alvarado checked. His opponent bet 37,000 and Alvarado tanked for about three minutes. He then cut out calling chips and counted the remainder of his stack. Another minute later, Alvarado decided to shove for 163,500 extra on top of his opponent's bet. Now it was his opponent's turn to tank. After about two minuted, he decided to fold.

Kelly Coming Back

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The board read {6-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{k-Hearts} and there was about 65,000 in the middle already. Both Anton Morgenstern in the small blind and JP Kelly in late position checked.

The river completed the board with the {q-Spades}, Morgenstern bet 32,000 and Kelly considered his options. After about 30 seconds, he decided to call. Morgenstern tabled {Q-Hearts}{8-Spades} for two pair, queens and sixes, with the king-kicker on the board. Kelly, however, showed {A-Spades}{q-Clubs} for the same two pair but with the ace-kicker in his hand took the pot.

Havlish Eliminates Bassett

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Max Havlish opened under the gun to 9,000 and Jesse Bassett in the cut off moved all in with a stack for around 60,000. The action came back to Havlish who made the call.

With {a-Spades}{j-Clubs} in his hand, Bassett was in bad shape to double up, facing {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} for Havlish.

The board {10-Spades}{j-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{7-Spades}{9-Spades} brought Basset a pair of jacks but it wasn't enough and he made his way to the exit.

Change to Tournament Structure

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

The tournament organization has just announced that the tournament structure will be changed due to the amount of time all the players played yesterday.

There are currently 20 minutes remaining of this level. The players will finish this level, go on their break as scheduled. When they return, they will play one more level and then go for their 60-minute dinner break (one level earlier than planned. When the remaining players return from their dinner break, they will play three more 100-minute levels with the normal breaks in between.

So instead of the scheduled seven levels for today, the players "only" need to play six levels today until they can bag and tag their chips for Day 4 of the MARATHON which starts at noon local time, Thursday, June 14.
