Salem Flushes Out Friedman

Level 15 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante

Perry Friedman: {x-}{x-}/{6-Spades}{q-Spades}{q-Hearts}{j-Clubs}/{x-}
Laith Salem: {x-}{x-}/{q-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{7-Hearts}/{x-}

Laith Salem completed, Perry Friedman made it two bets, Salem raised to three bets, and Friedman flatted. Friedman led fourth and Salem called.

Fifth street went down the same way and both players checked on sixth. Friedman check-called a bet on seventh street and Salem tabled the {a-Clubs}{9-Hearts}{k-Hearts} making a flush and Friedman mucked.

"This Game Sucks."

Level 15 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante
Yordan Petrov
Yordan Petrov

Matt Grapenthien, James Obst and Yordan Petrov all made it to fifth street with big pot brewing in the middle.

Grapenthien bet when it got checked to him but both Obst and Petrov called. Petrov and Grapenthien both received an ace on sixth while Obst's board hit a third Broadway card with the {J-Diamonds}.

The round was checked and so was the river.

"Queens?" Petrov's tone inclined more to a question than a statement as he was trying to figure out whether he had any chance to scoop the pot with just a pair of queens. Both Grapenthien and Obst turned their board upside down and Petrov indeed won the big hand with one pair.

Yordan Petrov: {Q-Hearts}{10-Spades}{5-Spades} / {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{A-Diamonds}
Matt Grapenthien: {X-}{X-}{X-} / {Q-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{K-Clubs}{J-Diamonds}
James Obst: {X-}{X-}{X-} / {9-Diamonds}{6-Spades}{5-Hearts}{A-Hearts}

They talked a little bit more about the hand and Obst smiled, saying: "This game sucks."

Grapenthien to Seiken, Seiken to Grapenthien

Level 15 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante

Matt Grapenthien and Nicholas Seiken clashed in two consecutive pots that both saw Seiken complete and Grapenthien make it two bets.

On the first hand, Grapenthien barreled on fourth and fifth before both players tapped the remaining streets. Seiken won the pot with two pair.

Matt Grapenthien: {X-}{X-}{X-} / {Q-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}
Nicholas Seiken: {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{Q-Hearts} / {A-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{9-Spades}{10-Hearts}

Grapenthien raised with ace out on the next hand and Seiken called the two bets. He spiked king-queen suited through fourth but Grapenthien kept the aggression, betting. Seiken called on fourth but gave up when he hit a black deuce on fifth.

Grapenthien: {X-}{X-} / {A-Hearts}{10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}
Nicholas Seiken: {X-}{X-} / {K-Hearts}{Q-Hearts}{2-Spades} - fold

Ahmed Doubles Through Salem

Level 15 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante

Owais Ahemd: {10-Spades}{8-Spades}/{10-Hearts}{q-Spades}{3-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}/{4-Hearts}
Laith Salem: {k-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{a-Hearts}

Owais Ahmed moved all in on sixth street and his heads-up opponent, Laith Salem, put him at risk. It was unclear what order Salem's cards came out but Ahmed ended with two-pair and it bested Salem's single pair of eights.

Ahmed was all in for about 40,000 and scored the double up.

Obst Pulls Off a Savage Call

Level 15 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante
James Obst
James Obst

James Obst and Michael McKenna tangled in a pot which saw Obst keeping the aggression until the river. McKenna had higher cards on his board and checked to Obst on fourth, fifth, and sixth. Obst fired on all streets and McKenna was calling every bet within a second.

Then he changed his plan on the river and led out.

Obst was seen whispering for himself, with his lips reading, "What?"

Then he spent some more time processing the hand and finally tossed in calling chips.

"Sixes," McKenna announced, showing {6-Spades}{2-Hearts}{Q-} / {6-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{4-Spades}{K-Diamonds}.

Obst had that beat with a pair of tens, turning up {10-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{5-Hearts} / {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{Q-Clubs} for a great hero call.

"Nice hand, James," Yordan Petrov complimented Obst.

Martin Gets the Best of Sigel

Level 15 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante
Jesse Martin
Jesse Martin

Daniel Negreanu: {x-}{x-}/{j-Spades}{9-Hearts}{k-Hearts} - fold on fifth
Michael Sigel: {x-}{x-}/{6-Clubs}{5-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Hearts}/{x-}
Jesse Martin: {x-}{x-}/{10-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}/{x-}
Al Barbieri: {x-}{x-}/{2-Hearts}{5-Clubs} - fold on fourth

Daniel Negreanu completed and got called by Michael Sigel, Jesse Martin, and Al Barbieri.

Negreanu continued on fourth street and everyone called but Barbieri. Sigel took the lead on fifth street, firing a bet that Martin raised. Negreanu folded and Sigel made it three bets. Martin called.

Sigel bet both streets going out and Martin called each bet.

Sigel opened the {9-Spades}{9-Clubs}{a-Diamonds} for nines and sixes and Martin tabled the {a-Clubs}{8-Spades}{10-Clubs} for a better two pair.

Kurtzman Dispatched After Nasty River

Level 15 : 6,000/12,000, 1,500 ante

Eric Kurtzman completed with an ace out and James Obst called. Michael McKenna then made it two bets and action folded back to Kurtzman who fired a three-bet. Obst got out of the way and McKenna scanned Kurtzman's remaining stacks. Then he called.

Kurtzman bet on fourth, earning one more call and they got the rest in on fifth street where Kurtzman slid in his last 11,000. McKenna called to see that he was behind.

Michael McKenna: {K-Clubs}{K-Hearts} / {6-Spades}{A-Clubs}{8-Hearts}
Eric Kurtzman: {A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs} / {A-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{Q-Hearts}

Kurtzman's aces improved into two pair on the river where he spiked a jack. McKenna, however, peeled an ace on the river to make aces and kings. He eliminated Kurtzman in a brutal fashion but Kurtzman took the bad beat with class.

"Take it easy, guys," he said, before heading out from the tournament area.
