Chen Busts Koppel

Level 17 : 2,000/4,000, 0 ante
James Chen
James Chen

Jared Koppel, John Jenkins, and James Chen made it three bets to see a flop of {10-Diamonds}{9-Spades}{7-Spades} and Koppel bet. Jenkins and Chen both called.

On the {A-Clubs} turn, Koppel bet once more and was left with 4,000 behind. Jenkins called and Chen raised, prompting Koppel to call all in for 12,000. Jenkins called the 16,000 of Chen and checked the {K-Diamonds} river.

Chen bet once more, Jenkins called, and all three sets of cards were turned over.

Koppel had {A-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{4-Spades}, Jenkins flipped over the {A-Spades}{7-Hearts}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades} for two pair and Chen scooped it all with {A-Hearts}{J-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{2-Clubs} for the straight.

Mizrachi and McPeak Bust Before Dinner

Level 16 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Robert Mizrachi
Robert Mizrachi

Henry Chow had escaped from elimination when he cracked pocket aces with an ace-five, spiking two fives on the flop. The fortune didn't last long, as soon after Chow's seat was empty and he headed to the rail.

Further players to bust before the end of the level were Robert Mizrachi and Pamela McPeak. They were both among the big stacks in the second level of the day but since dropped into short stack territory before bowing out.

Noori Survives

Level 15 : 1,300/2,500, 0 ante
John Racener
John Racener

Michael Noori was all in for his last remaining bits and saw two of the most accomplished players in the field, John Racener and Benny Glaser, go after him. On a {10-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}{10-Spades}{7-Spades}{5-Clubs} board, Racener bet and Glaser called after some thought.

Racener showed {A-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} for ace-king and a low, and Glaser mucked his hand. Noori then flipped over {A-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} to walk away with the high side of the pot and extend his tournament life.

Scholl Bubbles; All in the Money

Level 15 : 1,300/2,500, 0 ante
Denny Axel burst the bubble
Denny Axel burst the bubble

Within a few minutes from each other, several players busted and the last of them was Benjamin Scholl. His cards were all but mucked as Denny Axel claimed the entire pot with {A-Hearts}{J-Spades}{7-Spades}{2-Hearts} for the nut low and two pair on a board of {Q-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts}{J-Spades}{7-Diamonds}.

According to other players at the table, Scholl had {A-}{7-}{5-}{3-} for the second nut low and worse two pair to become the last player to leave empty-handed.

Nasty Beat for Dennis

Level 15 : 1,300/2,500, 0 ante
Pamela McPeak
Pamela McPeak

On the turn of a board {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades}{J-Hearts}{7-Spades}, Morty Dennis checked and then raised all in over the top of a bet by Pamela McPeak, who quickly called the extra few chips.

Morty Dennis: {A-Diamonds}{J-Spades}{3-Clubs}{2-Spades}
Pamela McPeak: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{2-Hearts}

Dennis was in excellent shape with the better high and low hand as well as the flush draw, but a cruel {Q-Clubs} on the river gave McPeak the full house and Dennis a bad beat story to tell. One table over, Patrick Gunn also ran out of chips to reduce the field to the last 143 hopefuls.

Stockfish Busts to Hoang

Level 14 : 1,000/2,000, 0 ante
Kate Hoang
Kate Hoang

On a flop of {9-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} the remaining few chips of Jason Stockfish found their way to the middle of the table and he was quickly looked up by big stack Kate Hoang.

Sotkfish tabled {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}{Q-Diamonds} and was in dire shape, as Hoang had flopped the flush with {K-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}. Hoang also blocked one of Stockfish's back door outs for a full house, and the {8-Hearts} turn left him drawing dead. This made the {7-Diamonds} river a mere formality and Stockfish was already gone from his seat as soon as the last community card was barely revealed.

Mizrachi Takes the Lead

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 0 ante
Robert Mizrachi
Robert Mizrachi

Robert Mizrachi started the day with a mere 17,100 chips, 17 big bets, and that stack size has since changed by a lot. Yet another pot against Michael Zepek ended with the chips being pushed towards Mizrachi, who had his bets on turn and river of a board {K-Diamonds}{Q-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{7-Clubs} called by Zepek.

"Flush and a low," Mizrachi announced and turned over {A-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{2-Spades}. That ended up as the winner as Zepek mucked, and Mizrachi boosted his stack further.

Hoang on Top

Level 12 : 600/1,200, 0 ante
Kate Hoang
Kate Hoang

One of the players on top of the counts is Kate Hoang. Hoang is an Omaha Hi-Lo aficionado and finished 2nd in the $3,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo event back in 2016, good for a $182,281 payday. Hoang also made the final table last year in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo championship, finishing 8th for $44,738.

Today, Hoang was already up to 90,000 when she played a hand against Julien Martini. Hoang had opened in middle position and had called a three-bet from Martini from the big blind.

On a {K-Diamonds}{Q-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Clubs} board, Hoang called each street as Martini kept firing. Martini showed {A-Clubs}{K-Spades}{Q-Hearts}{J-Spades} for two pair, Hoang showed {A-Hearts}{J-Hearts}{5-Spades}{4-Diamonds} for a seven-six low and the two chopped the pot.

Klodnicki Eliminated by Witteles

Level 11 : 500/1,000, 0 ante
Chris Klodnicki
Chris Klodnicki

A short-stacked Chris Klodnicki was all in and at risk with Todd Witteles and Richard Weeks still to act. Witteles bet the {J-Clubs}{8-Spades}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} river and Weeks called.

Witteles turned over {A-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}{2-Clubs} for a full house and the nut low. Klodnicki had already grabbed his stuff and left the table, exposing the {A-Clubs}{9-Spades}{4-Spades}{3-Hearts} for a busted flush draw and worse low. Weeks had {A-Spades}{10-Spades}{6-Spades}{2-Diamonds} for the same nut low and busted nut flush draw. "He blocked your spades," said Weeks, to which Witteles replied "ah, that's why there was all the action."

Don Zewin
Don Zewin

The cards of Don Zewin were all but mucked already and he grabbed his belongings before departing from the tournament area.

The board still showed {J-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}{7-Diamonds} and the pot was chopped up between Benny Glaser and table neighbor Jonathan Cohen. Glaser had the nut low with {A-Clubs}{J-Clubs}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades} while Cohen scooped the high portion of the pot with {A-Spades}{K-Hearts}{5-Spades}{3-Clubs} for a straight.
