Couden Gets Lucky, Busts Paredes

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
David Paredes
David Paredes

Joey Couden had a three-bet to 12,000 in front of him on the button and was facing a reraise to 41,000 from David Paredes in early position. Couden called and the flop came {6-Hearts}{10-Spades}{3-Hearts}. Paredes jammed for about 20,000 and Couden quickly called.

Couden: {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}
Paredes: {a-Diamonds}{a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades}

Aces were good for the moment but a {j-Hearts} turn had Paredes leaving his seat. The river was the {4-Hearts} and Paredes packed his bags and exited.

Laplante Picks Off Cannuli Bluffing Small

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

With {3-Clubs}{10-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{k-Clubs} on the board, Ryan Laplante check-called out of the big blind for 15,000 against Tom Cannuli. On the {a-Diamonds} river, Laplante checked again and Cannuli fired in a small bet of 17,000. Laplante called without much delay and Cannuli indicated that meant Laplante was the winner.

Laplante showed {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{q-Hearts}{6-Clubs} for aces up and took the pot.

Michael Mizrachi Trying to Climb Back

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Michael Mizrachi lost a large portion of his chips and he was down to around 20 big blinds when we arrived. Mizrachi was flatting on the button against Alexey Makarov's raise and they both checked the {9-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{10-Spades} flop.

Makarov checked the {9-Spades} turn as well and Mizrachi fired 6,000. Makarov took about a minute and then tossed in calling chips.

The river fell {Q-Diamonds} and Makarov led out 9,500. Mizrachi, however, announced he was all in for 40,000 or so and Makarov instantly threw his cards into the muck.

Aces Win for Lamb

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Ben Lamb appeared to be calling a check-raise to about 40,000 from small blind Matt Giannetti on {3-Spades}{6-Hearts}{j-Diamonds} when we arrived at the table. The turn came a {q-Diamonds} and both players checked, bringing a {q-Hearts}. Giannetti bet 45,000 and Lamb thought briefly and called.

"Kings," Giannetti announced.

Lamb spread {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{10-Clubs}{9-Clubs} and took it down.

Sometimes, 30 Seconds Can Be Long

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

We arrived when the action was on a flop of {2-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{4-Hearts} with Brandon Shack-Harris (big blind) involved in the hand against his left-hand opponent who had placed a bet of 12,000 in front of him. Shack-Harris check-raised to 50,000 and the other player spent a few minutes in the tank-mode.

He was shuffling with the calling chips but still couldn't make a decision. Then he turned to his left, saying, "Give me 30 seconds, guys, OK?" The table said they were fine with him taking time to figure out his plan.

But it took well over 30 seconds. Two minutes later, he ended up folding and Shack-Harris quietly stacked the chips from the pot.

Tosoc Eliminated

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Ryan Tosoc was all in for a small main pot with {5-Spades}{9-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{7-Clubs} on the felt and Norbert Szecsi in the big blind and Eric Rabl checked. The river was a {9-Spades} and Szecsi's 10,000 went uncalled.

Tosoc showed {10-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{5-Diamonds} but the Hungarian bracelet winner had it beat with {a-Hearts}{k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} for nines full.

Zinno Chopped by Livingston and Hajiyev

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante
Anthony Zinno
Anthony Zinno

With all the action already closed, we arrived at the table when Anthony Zinno stood up from his chair, knowing he won't be among those who will cash this year's PLO Championship.

It was a three-way showdown with all hands still face up. Zinno's {K-Spades}{K-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} couldn't hold on the board of {6-Hearts}{A-Spades}{6-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{J-Clubs} and his chips were split between Ramin Hajiyev and Matt Livingston who both finished with aces up and a queen kicker.

Livingston held {A-Diamonds}{Q-Spades}{9-Spades}{3-Diamonds} and Hajiyev exposed {A-Clubs}{Q-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{7-Spades}. Hajiyev is now right around the starting stack while Livingston eclipsed the 200,000-chip mark.

Schreiber Has It

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 0 ante

Three-way to the {3-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{9-Spades} flop, a player in an early position led out 10,000, earning a call from Yan Shing Tsang on the button.

Matthew Schreiber was in the small blind, check-raising to 45,000. The original aggressor folded quickly but Tsang seemed to be interested in seeing the turn card. However, he eventually released his hand and Schreiber rewarded his decision by showing him the {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{X-}{X-} for flopped nuts.
