Szymaszek Continues to Climb

Scott Seiver raised and Matt Szymaszek called from the big blind. The dealer spread the {q-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} flop and both players checked. The turn was the {k-Diamonds} and Szymaszek check-called a bet from Seiver.

The river was the {2-Hearts} and Szymaszek checked. Seiver threw out a bet and Szymaszek called. "No pair" said Seiver throwing his hand into the muck and Szymaszek turned over his {q-Spades}{4-Hearts} for middle pair to take the pot.

Matt Szymaszek raised and Christopher Chung reraised on the button, putting his 215,000 in. Anthony Zinno called and Szymaszek raised again, with Zinno calling. The flop came {9-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}{q-Hearts} and Szymaszek's bet chased Zinno.

Chung had been outflopped and his rail called for a five or "at least a six or an eight." Instead, it was a {3-Clubs} and then {8-Clubs} and the most significant rail of anyone remaining was left disappointed. Chung shook hands with his opponents and took a payout ticket.

"Let's go drink," he said.

Matt Szymaszek raised from the button and Scott Seiver called from the big blind. They went heads-up to the {j-Spades}{5-Spades}{2-Hearts} flop and both players checked.

The turn was the {a-Clubs} and Seiver check-called a bet from Szymaszek. The {k-Spades} completed the board and Seiver checked. Szymaszek threw out a bet and Seiver began to talk himself through the hand. He eventually called and Szymaszek showed {q-Spades}{8-Spades} for a rivered flush.

Seiver mucked his hand and Szymaszek who was down to just one big bet during four-handed play has moved into the chip lead.

Chung called and the dealer burned and turned the {8-Diamonds}. Szymaszek bet, Chung raised and Szymaszek moved all-in. Chung called turning over his {j-Clubs}{j-Hearts} but Szymaszek had flopped a straight with his {j-Spades}{10-Hearts}.

The river {k-Spades} sealed the deal for Szymaszek who dragged in the pot and doubled his stack.

Matt Szymaszek completed the blind and Christopher Chung checked. The board ran out {q-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{6-Spades}{2-Spades}{9-Clubs} with Szymaszek betting every street. Chung went into the tank on the river.

"I can only beat a bluff," he said. "Only a bluff..."

Finally, he did call and Szymaszek tabled {j-Clubs}{5-Hearts} for a bluff. Chung showed {8-Spades}{7-Spades} and his rail went wild.
