Ginther Doubles Up

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

Ian Ginther shoved for 6,900 on the flop of {3-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}{A-Spades} and his opponent looked him up. Ginther was in great shape with {3-Spades}{3-Clubs} against {A-Hearts}{Q-Spades} but he couldn't get a peaceful runout with the {A-Diamonds} hitting the turn. However, the {5-Clubs} river bricked and Ginther scored a double.

Ralph Massey Applies Pressure

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

A player in middle position opened to 525 and Ralph Massey called from the big blind.

The flop came {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{7-Hearts} and Massey checked. The preflop raiser bet 1,200 and Massey check-raised, throwing out a handful of yellow T-1,000 chips. His opponent folded quickly and Massey tabled {Q-Spades}{4-Spades} as the dealer pushed the pot his way.

Swanson Makes the Right Call

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante
Dave Swanson
Dave Swanson

David Swanson, who is probably better known as "All American Dave", has taken a seat in the Closer at the same table as Jason Wheeler. Swanson has already cashed twice this summer, both of them in the 30-minute levels format. He will be looking to lock in his third and better his personal record of $2,911 here at the WSOP.

With about 5,000 in the middle already, the board read {Q-Hearts}{7-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Hearts} and both Nicholas Steed (cutoff) and Swanson (button) had checked.

The {3-Clubs} on the river completed the board and Steed threw in a 5,000-value chip in as a bet. Swanson looked at Steed and the board and back at Steed. After a minute or so, Swanson called. Steed looked a bit disappointed and showed {a-Spades}{j-Spades}. Swanson flipped over {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} for two pair, kings and treys, to scoop the pot.

Ageloff Can't Beat Kings

Level 3 : 75/150, 0 ante

Brandon Ageloff raised to 250 from the hijack and Christopher Marion three-bet to 650 from the small blind. Action folded back to Ageloff who called.

The flop came {5-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{6-Spades}, Marion continued with a bet of 500 and Ageloff called.

The turn brought them the {a-Diamonds}, Marion's continuation-bet of 500 was raised to 2,100 by Ageloff. Marion considered his options for a while and then called.

The river completed the board with the {7-Clubs} on which they both checked. Marion tabled {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} for the pair of kings and that was enough to make Ageloff muck his hand.

Freedman Slips

Level 2 : 50/100, 0 ante

There were about 1,500 chips in the pot and the {K-Spades}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades} flop was out when we got to the table. Wendy Freedman checked from the small blind, the player under the gun checked, the cutoff bet 600, Freedman called, and the under-the-gun player check-raised to 2,150. The cutoff went into the tank and ultimately folded. Freedman shoved, putting her opponent to a decision for the remainder of his stack. He called to put himself at risk for about 7,200 total and the two players tabled their hands.

Wendy Freedman: {Q-Spades}{J-Spades}
Opponent: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}

Freedman was trailing her opponent's top pair, top kicker and needed to improve in order to win the pot. The {7-Hearts} turn and {10-Diamonds} river missed both players entirely and Freedman's opponent doubled up.
