Scott Seiver Bubbles the $50,000 High Roller

Level 17 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Scott Seiver
Scott Seiver

Just as play was halted at the outer tables with a double knockout to bring on the money bubble, a hand was still live on the table featuring Scott Seiver and Manig Loeser.

Loeser had shoved on the button, easily covering his opponents in the blinds and Seiver used a time extension before putting himself and his remaining 680,000 at risk, calling out of the small blind.

Scott Seiver: {a-Diamonds}{10-Spades}
Manig Loeser: {a-Hearts}{j-Clubs}

The board ran out {7-Hearts}{6-Spades}{k-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} and Seiver was unable to find a friendly run out to bust on the money bubble.

Yu Sends Home Andress and Merilees

Level 17 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
John Andress
John Andress

John Andress moved all in from middle position and action was on Daniel Merrilees in the hijack seat. He moved all in over the top and action folded to the big blind where Ben Yu called both shoves with a covering stack.

Ben Yu: {K-Clubs}{K-Diamonds}
Daniel Merrilees: {A-Spades}{Q-Diamonds}
John Andress: {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}

The board ran out {7-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}{3-Spades}{4-Spades}{9-Hearts} which gave Yu a bit of a sweat as Andress did pick up some extra outs, but nothing would come and that meant that Yu would scoop the big pot pushing him to nearly three million chips and putting the final 21 players on the stone money bubble.

Winter Berates Himself

Level 17 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

With the board reading {10-Spades}{3-Hearts}{j-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{2-Hearts} Sean Winter checked a pot with around a million chips in to Nick Petrangelo who moved all in for 1,495,000.

Winter used up two time banks while contemplating his decision.

"You always have three tens," he said. He eventually folded.

"That's so retarded," he continued. "Why did I do that?" Winter leaned across and moved the ten and jack out from the board and flicked them across to Petrangelo.

"Because you wanted to cash?" said Petrangelo.

"I'll pay you $500 to tell me what you had," said Winter.

"I dunno," replied Petrangelo, "Eight-nine suited seems pretty sweet."

Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu

Daniel Negreanu defended his big blind from an early position raise from Ognjen Sekularac. The flop came {9-}{7-}{2-}. Negreanu checked and Sekularac continued.

Negreanu check-raised all in for around 500,000 and Sekularac called.

Daniel Negreanu: {q-}{9-}
Ognjen Sekularac: {2-}{2-}

Negreanu had flopped top pair, but was behind to the set of Sekularac. The turn was a {q-} giving Negreanu two pair, but the river bricked and Negreanu was eliminated.

Soverel Eliminated by Loeser

Level 16 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Sam Soverel limped in and action folded to Manig Loeser in the small blind. He called and Brian Green was in the big blind. Green checked his option making it three-ways to the flop.

The flop was {9-Spades}{7-Clubs}{3-Hearts} and Loeser checked. Green put out a bet of 50,000 and Soverel called. Loeser thought for a bit then check-raised, making it 175,000. Green folded and Soverel moved all in over the top for right around 600,000. Loeser called quickly.

Manig Loeser: {6-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Sam Soverel: {A-Clubs}{A-Diamonds}

Soverel set the trap with aces and got the money all in but Loeser was live with a double gutted straight draw. The turn was the {4-Spades} completing one end of the straight and that would leave Soverel drawing dead rendering the {2-Diamonds} on the river a formality.

With Soverel's elimination, the field was dropped to 24 players triggering the three-table redraw.
