"Good Luck Guys"

Level 1 : 75/150, 0 ante

Todd Ommen was spotted grabbing his belongings and shaking hands with Matthew Ernst over in the Amazon purple section and said "good luck guys," while Ernst replied with a "I would go broke there, too" before stacking the chips.

Ernst's {A-Diamonds}{A-Spades} were still tabled with a board of {9-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{3-Hearts}{5-Clubs} visible and Ross Mallor confirmed that Ommen had ended up second-best with pocket kings.

Both Mallor and Ernst started well into Day 1b and have a near identical stack over on table 453.

Bracelet Ceremony for Perrin

Level 2 : 150/300, 0 ante

A few days ago Jeremy Perrin emerged victorious in THE GIANT for a smooth quarter million dollars after having invested just $365 and despite playing in the wrong event, as he had intended to participate in the Pot-Limit Omaha version instead. At the end of the last break, Perrin was handed his bracelet and diamond card by WSOP tournament director Jack Effel before heading back to his seat in the Brasilia room.

Chan and Smith Chip Up Early

Level 2 : 150/300, 0 ante

Johnny Chan wasn't seated on the first round through the Amazon Orange section but he can now be found right next to Christopher Frank, and he has built a decent early profit after moving up to almost two times the starting stack.

Another familiar face from the poker boom in the 2000's is Gavin Smith and he was also spotted in the same section. Smith's bet of 2,000 on the {A-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{3-Spades}{7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} was called by table neighbor Lisa Buck, who then nodded and mucked kings when Smith had rolled over the {A-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for two pair.

Varnell Gives Up and Mucks

Level 2 : 150/300, 0 ante

Craig Varnell bet 800 on the {2-Clubs}{3-Diamonds}{A-Clubs} flop and Brad Marzejka called.

When the {10-Diamonds} turn was added on the board both players opted to check and the {2-Hearts} completed the board. They both decided to check it down and Marzejka opened up {5-Spades}{5-Clubs}. Varnell threw his cards straight into the muck in a fashion that even impressed the dealer.
