Mateos Doubles Through Tuhrim

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante
Adrian Mateos
Adrian Mateos

The board read {10-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{6-Spades}{8-Clubs}{2-Spades} with around 75,000 in the middle already.

Adrian Mateos had checked in the big blind and Richard Tuhrim shoved from early position with the bigger stack. Mateos snap-called to see that his {k-Spades}{7-Spades} for the flush beat the {10-Spades}{10-Clubs} of Tuhrim who had flopped a set.

Volpe Eliminated by Ho

Level 13 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Niall Farrell raised to 6,500 from the early position and Paul Volpe shoved in mid-position for around 40,000. Action folded to Maria Ho in the big blind who also shoved. Farrell quickly folded.

Paul Volpe: {8-Spades}{8-Hearts}
Maria Ho: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}

The board ran out {2-Spades}{10-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{q-Diamonds} for Ho to hold with the higher pocket pair to eliminate Volpe just before the bubble as the floor announced 60 players will be in the money and there are now only 72 players left.

The full prize pool details will be announced once they have been posted by WSOP.

Smith Makes Mistake

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

From the button Dan Smith bet 8,000 on a flop that read {10-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{4-Spades}. He got a call from Emile Schiff.

The turn was the {7-Hearts}. Schiff checked and Smith put in a bet of 25,000 which Schiff called. Both players checked on the river after it came the {3-Hearts}.

Schiff showed the {j-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}. And Smith mucked his hand in frustration. But just as the chips were going over to Schiff he realized his mistake.

"I thought that was king king! Oh my god I've never done that before". He later said that he even intended to flash a {q-} that he had to show his top pair was beat but the card simply went into the muck face down.

Schiff apologized " I feel like a thief now" he said. But Smith assured him "No you did nothing wrong, it's my mistake".

Chen Triples Up and Eliminates Ferguson

Level 14 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

From middle position, Chris Ferguson shoved his remaining short stack all in. Pete Chen in the cutoff re-shoved his larger stack.

Adrian Mateos was next in the hijack and he came over the top with a four-bet shove of his even larger stack. That folded everybody else out and the cards were on their backs.

Ferguson {8-Spades}{8-}
Chen {a-}{a-}
Mateos {a-}{k-}

Chen was in great shape and the board provided only slight drama when it ran out {3-Spades}{4-Clubs}{4-Spades}{k-Spades}{10-Diamonds} to confirm a triple up for Chen, eliminate Ferguson and plummet Mateos to one of the shorter stacks in the room as the bubble looms.
