An elite field of 27 players started play on Day 3 of Event 11: $5,000 No Limit Hold’em. Play began at 2.00 p.m. local time and went on for over six hours to decide who would make up the final six players who will return to play down to a bracelet champion and the winning prize of $442,385.

Shannon Shorr , Ali Imsirovic and Maria Ho are just three stellar names of six terrific poker players who are all looking to add their first bracelet to add to their World Series of Poker resumes today.

Shorr will enter the final day as the overwhelming chip leader with 6,020,000, which is triple any other player’s stack. Shorr surged into a commanding chip lead after winning several big hands, the largest of them being a battle that created a seismic shift of 3,000,000 chips from previous chip leader Daniel Strelitz to be moved across the felt to the stack of Shorr. After some large betting preflop and on the flop, Shorr called Strelitz’s shove on the turn, holding an overpair to the board with pocket jacks which held on against the ace king of Strelitz.

Ho will be making her fifth WSOP final table appearance after having a steady Day 3, remaining constant in the middle ranks of the chip stacks. Her final table appearance was thanks in large to a hero call she made on Day 2 that propelled her to a big stack. In that hand, her entire stack was put to the test by a river shove and she made the correct call with third pair, pocket queens on a board that featured a king, an ace and three to a straight.

Imsirovic has been building big result after big result in the poker world recently and he can now add this second final table appearance of the 2019 World Series to his scorching run. Imsirovic gathered a big stack when he won a critical pre-flop all-in coin flip against Pete Chen when his pocket tens held up against ace-queen.

Joining the three big names will be Arsenii Karmatckii, Daniel Strelitz and Ognjen Sekularac, who will be looking to become the first player representing Serbia to bring home a WSOP bracelet.

The day featured the demise of 21 players whose goal to win a bracelet came up just short. Of those eliminated on Day 3 were Niall Farrell, Jeremy Ausmus and Randall Emmett.

Also to succumb tantalizingly close to the final day was Maria Mcalpin, who made the final table one that featured two women. Her dream to become the first woman to win a bracelet in 2019 ended when her short stack shove could not produce a double up.

Hand #45: Shannon Shorr raised to 80,000 from under the gun and Ognjen Sekularac called from the small blind. Maria Mcalpin was in the big blind and paused. She thought for a while before moving all in for her remaining stack of 420,000.

Shorr thought for about ten seconds before deciding to fold, but Sekularac did not as he quickly threw in a call to put Mcalpin at risk.

Maria Mcalpin: {a-Diamonds}{5-Hearts}
Ognjen Sekularac: {3-Spades}{3-Diamonds}

The flop was {7-Spades}{9-Hearts}{10-Spades}, missing Mcalpin. The {j-Diamonds} turn did not help either and when the {2-Hearts} fell on the rive, her tournament was officially over in 7th place for a payday of $48,377.

Hand #32: Daniel Strelitz raised to 80,000 from the hijack and was called by Ognjen Sekularac on the button and Shannon Shorr in the big blind. The flop came {6-Diamonds}{q-Spades}{3-Clubs}, both Shorr and Strelitz checked. Sekularac continued with a bet of 115,000 which only Shorr called. The turn was the {10-Spades}, Shorr check-called the 230,000 continuation-bet of Sekularac. They then both checked on the {5-Clubs} on the river for Shorr to scoop the pot with {q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for top pair.

Hand #33: Sekularac raised to 90,000 from the cutoff and got no callers.

Hand #34: Ali Imsirovic raised to 80,000 from middle position and got no action.

Hand #35: Shorr raised to 80,000 from the cutoff and Maria Ho called in the small blind. Strelitz three-bet to 440,000 in the big blind and Shorr called after contemplating for a while. Ho took her time too, glimpsing at the other stacks at the table before opting to fold.

The flop came {4-Spades}{8-Clubs}{4-Clubs} for Strelitz to continue with a bet of 400,000. Shorr confirmed the amount of the bet with the dealer and then made the call.

The turn was the {7-Diamonds}, Strelitz took a few seconds and then decided to announce he was all-in, having Shorr covered. Shorr counted out his own stack worth 1,600,000 and then made the call.

Shannon Shorr: {j-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Daniel Strelitz: {a-Hearts}{k-Hearts}

The river completed the board with the {6-Diamonds} for Shorr to hold and double up with two pair, leaving Strelitz behind with just below a million.

Shannon Shorr: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

The flop came {3-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} for Shorr to hit a set but give O'Grady some extra outs as any five would give him the wheel to stay alive.

The turn was the {8-Clubs} to now give O'Grady a pair which didn't really help him at all.

The {3-Hearts} on the river completed the board and sealed the deal for O'Grady to be eliminated in 9th place for $27,878.
