McKeehen Doubles Through Sklar

Level 7 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

With 15,000 in the middle and the turn showing {8-Spades}{2-Hearts}{2-Spades}{j-Spades}, Joe McKeehen ended up all in for 18,500 against Richard Sklar and the latter made the call.

McKeehen rolled over {j-Diamonds}{j-Clubs} for the full house and Sklar sighed.

"Do you have a flush?" McKeehen asked and Sklar nodded, flipping over {10-Spades}{6-Spades}.

"How much more is it?" Sklar inquired, then grinned and added "oh, we get another card?" before the dealer burned and turned the {8-Hearts} river.

Both bumped fists and McKeehen doubled to a nearly even stack.

Klein With Narrow Lead; Kalas Jams Into Forte

Level 7 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

On the river of a board {9-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{a-Spades}{4-Spades}, Bill Klein bet 12,000 and Sean Swingruber called after plenty of consideration. Klein showed {q-Clubs}{q-Diamonds} and that won the pot.

One table over, the flop showed {8-Spades}{6-Hearts}{2-Diamonds} and Kevin Forte had raised to 15,000. Kane Kalas moved all in for around 58,000 and Forte folded.

"You bluffed me?" Kalas asked and Forte replied with a "I had a good bluff hand."

Surprise, Surprise...Smith Moves On

Level 7 : 800/1,600, 0 ante
John Smith
John Smith

John Smith has a knack for defeating some of the greats in this WSOP Heads-Up tournament and he had another tough battle on his hands against Scott Seiver. Smith wrestled away the chip lead from Seiver and the two players clashed in one final hand.

Smith limped in on the button and Seiver made it 4,500 from the big blind. Smith called and the flop came {q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. Seiver continued for another 4,500 and Smith called to see the {4-Clubs} on the turn. Seiver jammed all in for 24,600 and Smith snapped him off.

John Smith: {10-Hearts}{4-Hearts}
Scott Seiver: {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}

Seiver flopped top pair but it was no match for Smith's two pair. The river was the {5-Spades} and Smith did it again, moving on to the next round by defeating Seiver.

Guilbert Defeats Ferguson

Level 7 : 800/1,600, 0 ante

Johan Guilbert had chipped up some already and then scored a crucial double to leave Chris Ferguson short. Guilbert opened to 3,000 in the previous level and Ferguson made it 10,000 to go. Guilbert shoved for 53,600 and Ferguson called.

Johan Guilbert: {a-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}
Chris Ferguson: {k-Clubs}{k-Spades}

Ferguson only needed to avoid an ace, but failed to do so on the {a-Clubs}{3-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}{3-Diamonds} board. He then jammed the next three hands to get back up to 20,000 before running out of chips.

In the final hand, Guilbert raised to 3,600 and Ferguson called. On the {9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{6-Clubs} flop, Ferguson moved all in and Guilbert called.

Chris Ferguson: {q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}
Johan Guilbert: {9-Spades}{7-Spades}

Ferguson picked up more outs on the {9-Hearts} turn, but the {k-Diamonds} river was a blank.

Schulman Takes Down Maya

Level 6 : 600/1,200, 0 ante

Nick Schulman held the chip lead for much of his heads-up match and was waiting for the right opportunity to land the final blow. The action was on Schulman in the big blind who made it 5,200 and Ben Maya shipped all in for around 25,000. Schulman quickly called and was happy to be currently ahead.

Nick Schulman: {a-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}
Ben Maya: {8-Spades}{7-Spades}

The flop fell {q-Clubs}{j-Clubs}{9-Hearts} to give both players a straight draw, Schulman's being the better one of course. The turn was the {3-Clubs} which took away some of Maya's outs and the {9-Spades} on the river sealed the deal as Schulman advanced to the next round.
