Berkey River Raise Folds out Straight

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Matt Berkey was involved in a hand with a chatty opponent, Syed Kadri.

On a board that read {10-Hearts}{8-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{7-Spades} Berkey bet 3,300. Kadri, who had been engaged in conversation with another player at the table which also features Greg Raymer, suddenly became interested in the hand he was playing against Berkey.

"I check and you still bet?" said Kadri to the headphone-wearing Berkey before tossing in the call.

The river was the {7-Diamonds}. Kadri led out for 3,000 and Berkey quickly raised to 8,500. Kadri immediately folded his face up showing a straight with {j-}{10-}. Berkey showed his hand as well which was the {q-Spades}{j-Diamonds} for the nut straight.

"It doesn't matter," said Kadri in response to Berkey showing his cards "I am a bad player, yet here I am playing this tournament today", meanwhile Berkey pulled in the pot silently, albeit with an amused look on his face.

Busquet Knows What He's Up Against

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Olivier Busquet raised to 500 in the cutoff and he received a call from Angie Sanders in the big blind. Busquet continued for 300 on the {7-Hearts}{a-Hearts}{a-Clubs} flop and Sanders stuck around for the {q-Clubs} turn which was checked. The river was the {a-Diamonds} and the action remained checked again.

"King-high is good," Busquet said and he was indeed shown {k-Spades}{4-Spades}.

Riess Bluffs Versus Top Pair

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

With action caught on the {10-Diamonds}{6-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{a-Hearts} turn, Ryan Riess fired 2,500 into 3,600 out of the big blind. Alexander Kuzmin called in the cutoff and the {8-Diamonds} river hit the felt. Riess checked and Kuzmin did as well. Riess announced an eight, tabling {8-Clubs}{2-Clubs} for a rivered showdown value. Nonetheless, he couldn't beat Kuzmin who showed {a-Clubs}{k-Spades}.

Strelitz Chipping Up Early

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Early momentum appears to be on the side of Daniel Strelitz as he already had a nice increase to his stack. On a board that read {4-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{10-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, Strelitz checked over to his opponent who put in a bet of 2,000 which Strelitz called.

Strelitz showed the {j-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} for the winning flush. His opponent showed the {a-Hearts}{a-Spades} to let Strelitz know that he had cracked his aces.

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Four-way to the flop in a single raised pot, big blind Hung-Sheng Lin led out 400 on {8-Diamonds}{2-Spades}{5-Hearts}. Niall Farrell raised to 1,600 from the cutoff and only Sheng called to see the {6-Clubs} turn. Lin checked and Farrell fired 3,500, enough to force a fold from Lin.

Elsewhere, Heidi May is down to just 13 big blinds after her bluff on the river ran into an opponent who had made their flush.

The flop came down {3-Diamonds}{7-Clubs}{4-Hearts} and Scatchard continued for 1200 and only Montazeri stuck around.

The {q-Spades} turn saw Scatchard fire a second barrel, but Montazeri wasn't willing to see the river for 2,500 and he gave up.
