Phan Still Running Hot

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

In a three-bet pot, Derek Bowers and Tuan Phan were heads-up with around 75,000 in the middle. The flop fell {10-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{5-Hearts} and both players checked to the {8-Spades} on the turn.

Bowers checked again and Phan reached for a bet of 56,500. Bowers called and the {a-Spades} landed on the river. Bowers checked for the third time and Phan knuckled the table as well. Bowers tabled {j-Hearts}{j-Clubs} but Phan showed {a-Clubs}{3-Clubs} for a rivered pair of aces to claim the pot.

"No ace on the river and you jam all in. I snap-call," Bowers stated.

"And then you win," Phan replied with a smile.

Magal Eliminates Wei

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Joseph Cheong raised to 10,500 from the hijack and Guoliang Wei shoved from the cutoff. Martin Magal asked for a count on the button and the dealer confirmed Wei had 61,500 behind. Magal responded with a shove himself. The blinds quickly folded and so did Cheong.

Guoliang Wei: {6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}
Martin Magal: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}

The board ran out {j-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}{8-Spades}{4-Spades} for Magal to hold with the higher pocket pair to eliminate Wei from the Marathon.

Aces vs Queens Favors Lavrovsky

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Yan Lavrovsky raised to 12,000 in early position and Yicheng Xu cut out a three-bet to 38,000 just a couple of seats over. The action folded back to Lavrovsky who shipped all in for 147,000 and Xu made the call.

Yan Lavrovsky: {a-Hearts}{a-Clubs}
Yicheng Xu: {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}

The flop of {j-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}{9-Clubs} narrowly missed Xu, leaving Lavrovsky still in the lead. The {8-Clubs} on the turn gave Xu a straight draw but also Lavrovsky a flush draw. The river was the {k-Diamonds} which completed none of the draws and Lavrovsky held on to double up.

Morman Over Park

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Daniel Park raised to 10,000 from under the gun and Jason Morman was the only one to make the call from the big blind.

The flop came {a-Spades}{7-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}, Morman check-called the 10,000 continuation-bet of Park.

They both checked through the {4-Diamonds} on the turn to the {j-Spades} on the river. Morman now bet 31,000 and Park called. Morman tabled {a-Clubs}{j-Diamonds} for the rivered two pair and Park showed he held {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} for the pair of aces.

Phachara Wongwichit

Ryan Leng opened to 11,500 in middle position and was called by the hijack. Phachara Wongwichit shipped all in for around 75,000 in the big blind and Leng called while the hijack folded.

Phachara Wongwichit: {k-Hearts}{k-Diamonds}
Ryan Leng: {6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}

Wongwichit held a commanding lead heading to the flop of {9-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{4-Hearts}. The {10-Spades} on the turn changed nothing and the {4-Spades} on the river ensured Wongwichit of a double up.

Walters Picks Up Aces Again

Level 16 : 2,500/5,000, 5,000 ante

Clyde Walters raised to 10,500 in early position and Chuanshu Chen ripped all in for 73,000 in the hijack. Martin Magal called from the blinds only to have Walter re-shove all in for 299,000. Magal asked for a count but elected to throw his cards to the muck.

Clyde Walters: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}
Chuanshu Chen: {a-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

The flop of {8-Diamonds}{7-Spades}{3-Spades} left Chen in a rough spot but the {10-Spades} on the turn gave him a straight draw. The {3-Hearts} on the river paired the board and Chen was eliminated from the tournament.
