Got Paid and Never Played

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

One player made the money without even playing a single hand today.

That player was James Ray.

His 135,000 in chips started the day at Table 221, and by the time the money bubbled had burst those chips had dwindled down to 4,000 and were on Table 171, still in the rack.

Brutal Hand on the Bubble

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

Action was picked up on the flop, with one player all in and another deep in the tank.

Preflop and postflop action were recalled by players at the table.

Action folded to Isaac Kawa on the button, he raised to 22,000 and was called by David Frenkel in the small blind.

The flop came {5-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{j-Clubs}, which is when things got interesting.

Frenkel led out, Kawa three-bet, Frenkel then four-bet shoved, which sent Kawa deep into the tank.

After several minutes he made the call and the players tabled their hands.

Frenkel: {9-Hearts}{9-Spades}
Kawa: {a-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

The top pair with top kicker for Kawa was behind Frenkel's flopped set, which held through the {2-Clubs} turn and {6-Spades} river.

The players had almost identical stacks, and when both were counted down Kawa was left with only 35,000.

Frese Survives All In On Bubble Bust

Level 16 : 5,000/10,000, 10,000 ante

A player from the middle position raised to 30,000 and action folded around to Aaron Frese on the button who moved all-in for 103,000, his opponent called.

Frese: {a-Clubs}{k-Clubs}
Opponent: {a-Spades}{q-Clubs}

After the {3-Spades}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop, Frese only had to dodge a queen with two more cards to come.

The turn was the {j-Diamonds} and the river a {a-Diamonds} which gave Frese a double up right before the bubble.

Two-way action headed to the flop between James Long and Michael Colecchia with Colecchia's tournament life at risk.

Michael Colecchia: {3-Hearts}{3-Diamonds}
James Long: {a-Spades}{k-Clubs}

Colecchia was ahead and after the {j-Clubs}{6-Spades}{5-Spades} flop, but the turn and river came {7-Spades}{3-Spades} for runner-runner spades and Colecchia was eliminated from the tournament.
