Two Bets Work for Mateos

Level 5 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

The action folded around to Mark Burford who raised it up on the button. Nick Petrangelo and Adrian Mateos called from the blinds and the three players saw a flop of {j-Hearts}{8-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}. The action checked through and the {a-Hearts} landed on the turn.

Petrangelo checked again and Mateos made a pot-sized bet of 30,000. Burford quickly folded but Petrangelo stuck around to see the {4-Diamonds} on the river.

Petrangelo tapped the table once more and Mateos tossed in another bet of 50,000. Petrangelo used up his allotted 30 seconds before finally sending his cards to the muck.

Kornuth Binks, Busts Aido

Chance Kornuth
Chance Kornuth

Sergio Aido bet 90,000 into a pot of about 100,000 from the big blind on {9-Diamonds}{3-Spades}{4-Spades}{j-Clubs}. Chance Kornuth set him in for about 85,000 more from the cutoff and Aido quickly called it off with {4-Diamonds}{3-Hearts} for two pair. Kornuth had {q-}{q-} and needed help, but that's exactly what he got when the {j-Spades} hit to counterfeit his opponent.

Sammartino Busts Talvitie

Level 5 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

Four players saw a {10-Spades}{8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} flop and the first two checked to Dario Sammartino in the cutoff. He bet 20,000 into about 30,000 and only Elias Talvitie, on the button, continued to the {5-Hearts} turn. Sammartino bet 45,000 and Talvitie called again to see a {5-Diamonds} river.

Sammartino shoved for about 110,000 effective and Talvitie thought only briefly before calling. Sammartino opened {4-Hearts}{4-Spades} for a full house and Talvitie mucked his {k-Hearts}{10-Clubs} and headed out.

Eibinger Fights for Dead Chips

Level 5 : 2,000/4,000, 4,000 ante

In the first hand after the dinner break, Dario Sammartino was late getting back to his seat, therefore his big blind of 4,000 chips was up for grabs. Rainer Kempe raised from the cutoff but Matthias Eibinger wasn't going to let him steal that easily. Eibinger stuck in a three-bet and Kempe called to see a flop of {q-Clubs}{3-Clubs}{2-Hearts}.

Kempe checked to Eibinger who continued for 36,500. Kempe still called and the {7-Clubs} landed on the turn. Kempe checked again and Eibinger pushed in a bet of 102,000. Kempe used one of his time extensions before sliding in a raise for nearly all of his chips. Eibinger instantly mucked and Kempe dragged in the pot.

Bonomo Bets the Nuts Small

Level 4 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Justin Bonomo bet 50,000 into about 80,000 from the hijack on {8-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{9-Hearts}{4-Diamonds} and Jason Koon called from the button. On the {q-Diamonds} river, Bonomo didn't need long before betting 25,000. Koon flicked a chip all the way over to where Bonomo sat as if indicating he was confident the chip would be Bonomo's.

Indeed, Bonomo showed {a-Diamonds}{5-Diamonds} for the nut flush.

Ricky Guan
Ricky Guan

Ricky Guan raised the hijack to 7,000 and Andrew Lichtenberger called from the cutoff. Daniel Negreanu came along from the big blind and it was three-way action to the {9-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}{8-Clubs} flop.

All three players checked and the {6-Diamonds} appeared on the turn. Negreanu checked, Guan bet 22,000, and Lichtenberger got out of the way.

Negreanu woke up with a check-raise to 50,000 and Guan called to see the {a-Diamonds} river.

Negreanu bet 65,000 and Guan burned through a time extension before just calling.

"Straight," Negreanu said before tabling the {j-Hearts}{10-Clubs} for a flopped straight. Unfortunately for him, Guan had the {9-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} for a flopped two pair that turned into a runner-runner flush.

"Oh, what a flop," Negreanu said before sending over the chips.

Hallaert Dodges the World to Double Through the Chip Leader

Level 4 : 1,500/3,000, 3,000 ante

Ali Imsirovic opened for 7,000 from early position and picked up callers from the cutoff and button. Kenny Hallaert, who won his way into this tournament via a satellite last night, then moved all in for 94,000 from the big blind. Imsirovic called, the other two players folded, and it was off to the races.

Imsirovic: {a-Spades}{q-Spades}
Hallaert: {7-Clubs}{7-Spades}

The {10-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} flop gave Imsirovic a double gutter, and the {8-Hearts} turn paired the board to give him added counterfeit outs. Fortunately for Hallaert, the {7-Hearts} river improved him to a full boat to give him the double through the chip leader.
