Event #64: $888 Crazy Eights No-Limit Hold'em

Day 1c Started

Day 1c of Event 64: $888 Crazy Eights No-Limit Hold’em

Welcome to Day 1c, the third of four starting flights, of Event 64: $888 Crazy Eights No-Limit Hold’em. It's one of the more unique tournaments on the World Series schedule, and it’s all about the eights. In addition to the $888 buy-in, the winner will receive $888,888 in prize money and tables are played eight-handed.

In 2018, Galen Hall outlasted 8,597 entrants to take home the $888,888 in cash, the second largest of his tournament career, and his first WSOP gold bracelet.

Players taking their seats will start with 40,000 in chips, a substantial increase over last year’s starting stack of 8,000 chips and are allowed unlimited re-entries through the close of registration. The schedule for Day 1c will consist of 19 levels at 30 minutes each, with a 20-minute break after every four levels of play. Registration will close at approximately 5:55 p.m. and those players lucky enough to find a bag at the end of play will return on Monday, July 1st at 12 noon local time and join the 209 players that have already moved on to Day 2.

Gay Takes a Small Pot Early

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

The under-the-gun player raised it to 300 and was called by a middle-position player and Andrew Gay from his big blind.

After Gay checked the {4-Diamonds}{q-Clubs}{q-Hearts} flop, the original raiser continued for 500, which got a fold from the player in middle position and a check-call from Gay. On the {j-Hearts} turn, Gay then led out for 1,000, which was enough to take down the pot and add a little more to his growing chipstack.

Can Can and Did

Level 1 : 100/100, 0 ante

Action picked up on the flop on a board reading {a-Clubs}{5-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} in a three-way pot.

Nesrin Can led out for 600 and was called. The third player in the hand then three-bet to 2,500, which got a call from Can and a fold from the third player.

After Can check-called the 5,000 bet on the {2-Spades} turn, both players then checked the {9-Spades} river. Can tabled {8-Hearts}{5-Hearts} for the flopped two pair and the other player sent his cards to the muck.

Sometimes You Just Know

Level 2 : 100/200, 0 ante

Action picked up on a board reading {7-Clubs}{8-Spades}{q-Spades}{k-Spades} in a three-way sizable pot.

The player first to act bet out 2,500 and was called by the player in middle position and Nilesh Choudhary in the next seat over. All three players then checked the {a-Clubs} river and the early-position player announced "Two pair," which got a fold from the middle-position player, but Choudhary tabled {9-Spades}{4-Spades} for the turned flush and scooped the pot.

Choudhary and his tablemates then made it known that he had three-bet preflop with the {9-Spades}{4-Spades}.
