Schulman Counterfeits Calderaro

Level 15 : 20,000/40,000, 40,000 ante

Nick Schulman opened to 80,000 in middle position and James Calderaro defended from the big blind. The flop came {q-Clubs}{j-Spades}{10-Hearts} and Calderaro checked to Schulman who tossed in a continuation bet. Calderaro shoved all in for 605,000 and Schulman quickly called.

Nick Schulman: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds}
James Calderaro: {q-Spades}{j-Spades}

Calderaro out-flopped Schulman's pocket aces by hitting two pair. The {2-Diamonds} changed nothing on the turn but the {10-Clubs} paired the board on the river. As a result, Schulman made a larger two pair and eliminated Calderaro.

Schulman Binks the River to Eliminate Fox

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

The action folded around to Elio Fox and Nick Schulman in the blinds and they wasted little time before getting all of the chips in the middle preflop. Fox was the player at risk for 700,000 and the two players were flipping.

Nick Schulman: {k-Clubs}{q-Spades}
Elio Fox: {10-Spades}{10-Hearts}

The flop came {8-Clubs}{6-Diamonds}{3-Spades} and Fox remained in the lead with his overpair. The {j-Clubs} on the turn changed nothing but the {q-Clubs} on the river was just what the doctor ordered for Schulman as he eliminated Fox from the competition.

Grafton Not Phased by Chen's Check-Raise

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante

Sam Grafton raised to 105,000 from the cutoff and James Chen defended from the big blind. The flop came {q-Spades}{q-Hearts}{4-Clubs} and Chen checked to Grafton who continued for 75,000. Chen check-raised to 225,000 but Grafton called.

The turn was the {q-Diamonds} and Chen checked again. Grafton fired out another bet of 250,000 and this time Chen laid his hand down.

"I would have gone for the double check-raise if it wasn't a queen on the turn," Chen pointed out.

Grafton just chuckled to himself. "It's been a while since someone's double check-raised me."

"Strong Finish" as Nitsche Gets There to Double Up

Level 16 : 25,000/50,000, 50,000 ante
Dominik Nitsche
Dominik Nitsche

Dominik Nitsche had been hovering around the ten big blind stack for a while and got his last 335,000 in with {a-Spades}{k-Diamonds} against the {a-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} of Keith Tilston.

The flop came {j-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{10-Clubs} giving Tilston trips.

"That's a good start," said tablemate Jason Koon. The turn was the {9-Clubs} but the river {q-Clubs} gave Nitsche a straight and he doubled up.

"And that's a strong finish," said Koon.
